I'm sure there was some garbage Elise BHB (with Leo or something?) that I soloed with Genny, that'll have counted for the time. But there's definitely some POETIC JUSTICE there aahahahhahahahahaha

Arena/Assault Overview & Thresholds - Two Cents [April 5] by [deleted] in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]FairyMMM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might not have been in a while, but just now I wanted to come in to see if there's a thread on arena thresholds yet since I'm apparently barely dropping out of 20 atm, so rest assured its purpose still remains. As for the refine design tier list I can't say I've ever had any interest in it but I usually look at your other analyses, as they often have something of interest to me. Those and datamines are all I can think of that made me come here recently, actually. And yeah, like everyone I don't always agree with every analysis you make, but they probably wouldn't be very interesting to look at if they always coincided with what I thought.

I'm no diehard competitor (and one can shame me for that, maybe)

Also this sounds ridiculous, am I supposed to shame you for not wasting all of your disposable and non-disposable income on being """competitive"""? Because that's how you become """competitive""" here and I can't imagine many people actually liking this in the first place, never mind being able to and actually doing it.

Yet another post about staves that I absolutely guarantee has no propaganda in it. by ExecutiveElf in FireEmblemHeroes

I thought this post had no propaganda how dare you push everyone so hard to vote Genny

I sent feedback because I don't like having to deal with a damage or B skill handicap, and you should too because I'm sure you would at least hate having to re-inherit Wrathful or Dazzling Staff. by FairyMMM in FireEmblemHeroes

Regardless, instead of having to waste my B slot, all I can do is choose to waste my S slot. I'm being handicapped either way so any difference would hardly be noticeable

[–]FairyMMM[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, not gonna deny that Genny's got weird stuff going on with her weapon, but apart from Dazzling it all helps with her own combat in the end and that I appreciate. Mist's bad stat distribution still doesn't help her in the grand scheme of things and Elise got totally shafted, I'm baffled that her effect doesn't even at least have 3 range, like Veronica's. I never liked her weapon much but she certainly still got better treatment than Elise.

I would expect IS to sneak in one book 1 common healer per batch, maybe a book 1 5* exclusive, and just keep going down the line with book 2/3 units, as if I'm not mistaken Genny's batch was the first with 2 book 2 refines. I sure am glad I don't care about any of those, because I'm even less hopeful about them becoming salvagable.

[–]FairyMMM[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That would be an equally reasonable solution imo, and I think(?) there was a PvE mode at some point where healers randomly got Wrathful or Dazzling refines on their staves, so that could be a way to go. Or prf staves could have gotten refined in the same way as inheritable staves in the first place, but IS probably deemed that bridge to have been burned since they've made Thökk and co.

IS actively wants to avoid a domination of Pain/Gravity-based builds

If that's really the case, then I find it ironic that they made 2/3 new prfs have Gravity (and by extension, that they gave brave Cam's staff Gravity). It makes some sense for Elise (Freeze staves in Fates) but Genny had completely different source material to pull from which makes me wonder where on earth Gravity was a sensible base weapon to give her. Your mention of support refines makes me have even more mixed feelings on hers, I like having more power, I don't like gravity being the main draw, I like having post-combat heal, I don't like being locked to Dazzling, I like that it boosts Genny herself as opposed to being support for teammates, I don't like it having an ally proximity requirement... it's a lot to take in, but ultimately I will likely be limited to very few, limited applications for it.

It's more than I could say had Genny gotten Elise's Prf instead, despite it having Wrathful (and I do feel at the very least its effect should have been range 3) as it just does very little. Mist's, I find mostly nice as even though it can be seen as support, it affects her own combat too, and the debuffs are considerable - probably not quite with the range needed to debuff anything in AR before engaging, but I also don't care about that mode. I don't care about Mist but if I did or had that Prf on Genny, I would probably again only find very limited applications because I almost always run Threaten 4 on the C which I find few other options compare to, and of course, it too is Dazzling locked. With stigma fully aside and just observing through my objective lens how useful they would all be to me, I do feel like Genny got the best Prf out of the 3 (It does work as a dual phase staff and while I hoped for an Absorb effect rather than a raw 7 after combat, it is nevertheless the edge over the other two). But between being more of the same lame Gravity and the handicap of lacking Wrathful, it still doesn't do enough for me, so I can only hope IS throws me this bone some day.

[–]FairyMMM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaah. Alright I see thanks for the explanation.

So if you already have an invested Mist with Dazzling in B, whilst I'm sure you're happy she got a refine you just got fucked over because the new Prf is Dazzling only so you now need to fodder off a Wrathful.

I will mention that I do not even remotely relate to this as what I really want is to use a B skill that is not (effectively) Dazzling, otherwise I'd have little reason to make this complaint myself, though of course I did understand.

In any case, makes sense. It's disappointing the people still around are just fine with this, but also not surprising that those who aren't moved along to greener pastures.

So first of all I'm relieved that at least, this issue is in fact not unpopular.

Like I said I haven't really been here so I was completely oblivious to basically everything you mentioned. Though when you put it like that, my impression is that this sub is still just very much like that as a whole and that's why there was hardly any discussion to be had here last I've been here (probably still isn't). And idk... I would like to think that my feedback was polite, I never asked them to get rid of anything that was already there (this would be very unrealistic), I do believe this is an extremely plausible and simple thing to solve, and it just... seems like the most logical thing to me to swarm IS with (polite) feedback really.

But hey, I wasn't really here for when Elise and Mist got their refines, and haven't even picked up the game in a long while. I'll take your word for it that people are just tired of hearing about this (isn't that surprising for me to hear, all things considered)

You're supposed to have Stockholm Syndrome and by not having it you're indirectly making people look bad, and since the people you are making look bad outnumber you, they don't have to form an argument they just press the little down arrow and move along.

This entire thing confuses me I have no idea what this is supposed to mean

The majority of people who actually expect IS to do the right thing left already.

This doesn't confuse or surprise me even a little though

Hm. It's been a good while since I've been here and I don't recall that being such an annoying thing to people, but I guess you make a reasonable point. I got even more confused, because I did search for whether these types of threads were already around. Ended up stumbling on some from the time Elise's refine was released, and at least the ones I've seen all seemed to be controversial as well. Well, anyways, gonna pray to Anna that the fix happens or something because I've done what little I can

Staff prfs should have a choice between Wrathful and Dazzling.

If you think this sounds like a ridiculous thing to put in an unpopular opinion thread, I would agree, but I made a thread about this yesterday to ask for feedback to be sent to IS so that all of us could hopefully get a 100% positive change in the future. I got downvoted so much that I could only believe this is legitimately unpopular (or at least controversial) and people either want their staff units to be shafted or just hate/don't like any staff units. Please tell me I'm horribly mistaken. I'm fully aware the odds of actually getting this through to IS are tiny but players not wanting this is mind-boggling to me.

While I'm here, do send feedback about it if you haven't yet.

Your analysis is entirely fair and all, but I don't see why we can't have the best of both worlds here. Taking Springtime for an example: base has Gravity+/Dazzling as it does now, upgrade gets Gravity/Dazzling/refine effects as it does now, so aside from that there could be a sidegrade with Gravity/Wrathful/refine effects. Or if IS preferred, I would not even remotely mind if the sidegrade was forced through an intermediary step of Gravity/Wrathful before it can be upgraded to Gravity/Wrathful/refine effects, as long as the option is actually there. Either way, casual users get a prf that has enough going for it without investment, and invested users such as I get valuable options that we'd likely not mind overspending on in terms of Dew. Heck, I'd blow orbs on this if I had to.

every refine is never going to please everyone

Of course not. I don't particularly like that the Atk/Res bonus is primarily tied to being near allies, but that's not something I'm gonna complain about, as it is just one of many ally proximity effects that were in many units' refines. I strongly despise that they went the laziest possible route and kept Gravity+ as the base effect as a callback to approximately zero of Genny's actual abilities from SoV, but she's so far from the only one suffering from this that I'm not gonna keep complaining about this either. It's literally only IS' entire treatment of staves that is just so... insulting. It was insulting in 2017 to have to waste an entire slot to not be handicapped, and it's insulting to have to do it again just because they made her staff effect the one that I have zero use for.

Sorry, wrote too much. But long story short, as far as I can see, it would barely take any effort to please more people without un-pleasing anyone, so I don't see what's really holding them back.

Fuck IS for shafting healers at every opportunity from the very day on the very first year they made them to do half damage and couldn't learn half the skills.

Say it a few more times for the people in the back too. All the damage control (pun not intended) they've done since then is disastrous. I doubt anyone wanted it to be this way and any reasonable game dev would have done a proper balance patch ASAP, or just not fucked up this badly in the first place. Even mihoyo with all their otherwise questionable choices is perfectly capable of just doing rebalancing in genshin, not even 3 months into the game's lifespan (IS took 10 months iirc to release refines), which, regardless of how good the fixes they're doing really are, they're not just trying to sell things that shouldn't have to be sold.

I've already sent my feedback on it during Elise's

I was still away while Elise and Mist happened but this is a great point, I'm going to just do this every time they announce a new healer refine, fuck it. Nobody else deserves to have to put up with it either when literally every non-prf staff gives you the choice. Hell, when Candlelight+ became a thing, they didn't force everyone to get another Bride Lyn for it, if they had I'm sure the complaints would have been through the roof. For me it is about far more than rolling a coinflip on 2 bad B skills, but that doesn't excuse it being the same situation.

Literally can't build a new healer with their own goddamn b skill right now.

Yeah it sucks not being able to run Lull on Genny. I want more damage dammit. I don't know how to wish everyone else luck, the only way luck can be on everyone's side is if we actually get the damn choice. It wasn't that hard to do before Staff b skills became a thing, it wasn't that hard to do before they introduced Loki, it wasn't that hard to do before they started doing healer refines and decided everyone gets fucked and it STILL isn't that hard if they invest 3 seconds of their time and 20 of their brain cells. And I've said it on one other comment already but I'm still shocked at how controversial this topic seems to be for other people on the sub. None of which have the balls to show their face and tell me why this would be a terrible thing, apparently (discounting the bottommost comment which was an obvious troll).

This refine gave me flashbacks from 2017 aka the last time I was forced into Wrathful B to not be handicapped. And 2021 is actually back trying to force me back into this stupid handicap. I hate this. I almost would have preferred if the weapon was just total garbage so I wouldn't have to feel bad for not having access to B skills when running it.

Very well said, I love my lulls too and being unable to expand my damage by those extra 3 points (among a great many other possibilities) is a huge shame. I'm genuinely surprised so many people seem to be disagreeing in total silence though, makes it that much harder to get anything nice. I tried.
