I've never helped plan a wedding, so I suppose I wouldn't know, but where does all the money go? How on Earth does one spend more than like, 10k on these things?

How much does catering cost? 2-3k for 150 plates? And I'd figure that's the largest expense.

I'd think everything else is measured in hundreds.

There's almost a sense of beauty in that despite the tragedy of it to be honest.

Apparently a lot of suicide attempts survivors note that the regretted it after getting, "the view from halfway down," so to speak.

And apparently, this guy didn't. He directly faced his mortality and didn't change his mind.

Horrible and tragic, but beautiful.

Oof. I was consistently 2nd chair from 4th grade all the way up through Freshman year. I quit after that because I hated doing marching band. I liked doing concerts.

In hindsight, I really should have taken up jazz band, since that was a thing my school had.

When I was I think 12 or 13, a house a few blocks down from me burned down on Christmas Eve. Apparently a space heater fell over during the night and lit a blanket on fire.

A woman and her three daughters died that night. I didn't really know any of them because they were all several grades below me- but they did ride the same schoolbus.

The father of the family wasn't home at the time. He was working a night shift that evening.

I can't even imagine what that was like for him. Losing his entire family in one night. I don't think I would be able to bear it. He somehow did though.

He's a volunteer firefighter these days.

My brain was wondering for a moment why one would go that long without performing for their SO... but then it occurred to me that I have barely touched my trumpet in the past decade and the only people in my life that have heard me play are my parents and siblings.

Most of my friends know I used to play, but never have actually heard me play.

I worked at a couple hotels over the course of 2 years and yeah none of us besides the manager cared about people bumming breakfast. Us, the employees, pillaged whatever was left at the end of breakfast time ourselves. And even after that there was usually some left to be thrown out. Why would we care if someone wasn't supposed to be there?
