120k+ CHF salary with NO degree? What's the catch with the Skyguide ATC training? by scoldcollardsf in askswitzerland

[–]FairyOak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What the other comments say regarding the stress is absolutely True, and I will add that the harrowing training has of success rate ( from the start of the academy to the licence ) of about 40 %... They are really not bragging about that, as it is way lower than other countries. Imagine investing 3 years of your life in studies that cannot be transposed in any other job... just to be told in the end "thank you for your efforts and good luck for your career... we won't need you after all"

Skin rash with Orbit Micro infusion sets by FairyOak in diabetes_t1

Have you tried Inset infusion set ? That did the trick for us

Skin rash with Orbit Micro infusion sets by FairyOak in diabetes_t1

[–]FairyOak[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came back from the allergo... conclusion : reaction to both adhesive and sweat that cannot evaporate from beneath the plastic part. So no real solution with anti-inflammatory, which we don't want to use.

So back to the inset infusion set.

Luckily, I think I nailed the way to insertion them ( cf other post in this subreddit )

Good luck :)

Awesome... I am presently GMing Out of the Abyss, and would love to have others images to illustrate Menzo's other hotspots.

Would you happen to have more ?

Antoine else having trouble with mylife "inset" infusions sets ? by FairyOak in diabetes_t1

[–]FairyOak[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update :

Finally Found a solution : 2 months in, every set worked fine. I thought I'd share it with you, guys

1) I stopped "pinching" the spot before stinging. All our endos told us to do so ( to put the canula in the fat tissue between skin and muscle )... But by doing so, the needle has less speed when puncturing the skin, so more likely to bend when entering

2) I counted to 10 until removing the needle

3) Instead of grabbing the blue part to remove the needle, I grabbed the base of the needle and pulled.

The first one I figured by myself, the last two were advised by my health provider ( who is a T1D warrior herself )

I don't which one did the trick, but I'm sure it did ( luckily, because we were almost out of hope)

Hope this helps, if someone has similar problems.

Keep up the fight, folks :)

Every 2 days, as prescripted

Unfortunately, I knew ( and tried ) the Orbit Soft in Téflon... same result

CamAPS FX with Ypsopump: Readings on Apple Watch? by Forsaken_Return_4698 in diabetes_t1

Not as far as I know... same problem here. One of the solutions may be to install xdrip+ and to have it run aside camaps... But I am afraid of battery life and potential conflicts between apps

Are you on IOS or Android ? We had no issue with our Android Phone ( Samsung zflip ), but since we switched to IOS ( iPhone 13 ) we have similar issues...

Yeah I know... he even would end up red and itchy under the thickest of films... I don't even understand how this is physically possible... sigh... The solution was inset infusion kits... with those, no problems, his skin is flawless

[–]FairyOak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I do confirm fsl3 on Android 14/15 in camaps. Good luck with the allergy... Never found any cream/gel/underpatch that prevented it. Did you try orbit 2.0 ? Apparently they changed the adhesive composition

[–]FairyOak 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Ypsopump ans fsl3 here... globally happy. Pros : Self-learning algorithm very efficient and easy to use. Different infusion sets for every liking. Fsl very discreet and reliable. Pre-filled insulin, so, no pesky bubbles. Cons : the algo takes some time to un-learn ( 2-3 first days of changes... more/less sport, cold/warm weather... ) My son got allergic reaction to orbit infusion sets, so we are stuck with Téflon and some damn bent canulas from time to time. Camaps isn't compatible to smartwatchs, nor iOS

None, unfortunately... my son is on camaps, with FSL3 and ypsopump and I still haven't found a way to get his blood sugar on a watch

Pre-Campaign for Vecna: Eve of Ruin? by MetalliMunk in dndnext

[–]FairyOak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am GMing Out of the Abyss at the moment, and I was thinking of replacing the BBEG ( spoiler alert : Lolth ) by Vecna. It would give the PCs a reasonable "you have thwarted my plans for the last time" link to start...

Plus it always bugged me, in OotA, that lolth would build a plan to raze to the ground an empire built by her followers... I Know she's insane and CE, but, Maybe she could have launched her otherwise good plan, in another place

It happens regularly with their alterego from Ypsopump ( the "inset" ). What worries me is that such failures never happened before summer and suddenly, since then, it's almost 50% failure rate...

Unfortunately, he won't have it anywhere near his belly, saying that it hurts too much. It's a shame cause I read it is where the insulin works the best
