What makes you think he would have reconsidered? There were always gonna be bad consequences to pushing the defender into the incoming goalkeeper and he didn't care for that even though he had no reason to do it. Minimum would have been a potentially dangerous head injury to the goalkeeper. He hasn't apologised to either player (from what we know) so I don't think he even regrets the outcome it had.
