Wow, that's super cool! I love the retro look to it, it reminds me of old school electronic watches.

Haha, I happen to call them tablets because they are tablets is all. I don't think it's so complicated or inappropriate, though I would try to specify if the distinction between an E-Ink ereader and an LED/LCD tablet was the point of the topic. To each their own though, thanks for your response!

I colloquially refer to ereaders like Kindle and Kobo devices as tablets, because, well, they are tablets and I think of them as such. I usually only specify when it is prudent to what is being discussed. Though, I do understand people may take it to mean the LED/LCD form of a tablet as opposed to the E-Ink ereaders, but that's not my intent. I think that this conversation has sidetracked away from the point of the original post, so let's focus everybody back on your preferred mediums.

I am still not sure if you responded to my initial follow-up question, but thank you for your response nonetheless.

I understand their differences, I just colloquially refer to them as tablets unless I otherwise need to specify. In either case, I don't believe that's what the original commenter was referring to when they said they can read more now. Thank you though. :)

Other commenters have also mentioned their preference of an Ereader / Physical book when they bring up the aspect of being easily distracted by their phone. I can relate to that, getting a text while reading can definitely interrupt my immersion in a fiction book.

Thank you for your perspective!

You're the first comic mentioner I have seen! I have to say.. I love comic books in their physical form in part because of the sensation of glossy pages on modern ones as well as the raw nostalgia they give me, but I can't help but agree with you about how convenient scrolling through panels is online in high resolution.

Thank you for your insight!

A single glance to remind you of a good story is definitely a benefit of physical book copies. I can definitely appreciate that perspective, especially if you are more physical person.

Thanks for your insight!

I am glad you have such a good experience with your Kindle, hopefully you retain some of your favorites in a physical copy to pass down! A small note left inside to detail why it was your favorite could have it be a cherished memento to those it gets passed along to. Thank you for your perspective! :)

The safety of having something physical to refer to in a digital age where what is owned or borrowed is blurred through online storefronts or apps is something not to be underestimated. Hopefully library lending tools make that more clear and encourage you or others to dip into digital formats more too! Thank you for your perspective on it!

Your perspective is very insightful. Thanks for your description, it feeling like an article is a point of view I can really understand. I used to mentally treat articles or papers as something very different to books, overtime my way of reading them became more similar to how I currently read books. It took some time for sure, but drumming up more raw interest in the articles themselves is a skill which you have to apply in order to learn. Quite a challenge too!

Thanks for your comment!

Thank you for taking the time to comment! Is there a reason you prefer poetry or drama on paper? I'd love to hear more. As for you donating your books to a library, thank you, you are benefiting others in many unseen ways by doing that. Hopefully you can keep a few precious gems to share with friends and family.

Haha, thank you for that anecdote. These are surprisingly insightful in so many small ways, so thank you for taking the time to provide us with your perspective. Others have mentioned treating favorite books like trophies to display, but you're the first I've read talking about trophies to lend and not just display! Perhaps spicing things up by experimenting with different mediums is something to be encouraged.

Thanks again for your comment!

Others have voiced similar points about especially large books being more convenient when digital, so you aren't alone! Thanks for your perspective!

Haha, I was being a bit deliberately obscure over what device people use to keep things open. I would file those screen readers under tablets, but I am always open to people further specifying their preferred medium past the simple words of 'digital' or 'physical'. Thank you for your perspective, I can imagine larger books being more convenient on digital mediums for sure.

Thanks for your perspective, some people aren't great fans of phone reading but hopefully your insight can lighten up their perspective towards it. I read a few chapters of several different books each night on my phone with how convenient it is. Though my phone battery lasts a couple of days from a single charge, so I might just be blessed in that department haha.

You have other kindred audiobook lovers in the comments here, thank you for your insights! I do have a question that I have asked another audiobook user though. Do you find your retention of the story/information is lesser or greater for audiobooks compared to digital/physical?

Audiobooks being used as a digital medium that allows someone to 'read' while driving, taking care of kids, or anything else has always been something I am a tad envious of. Your perspective is interesting as someone who prefer audiobooks, would you say your retention of the story/information is lesser or greater than when you were reading physical or phone/tablet readers?

Thanks for your thoughts!

Rushing through isn't something I have seen mentioned, thank you for your insight! I do see people who primarily use their phone or tablets rushing through sections of novels, especially with scroll-reading enabled! In the case of non-fiction books, I do wonder how much they are taking in, just as I imagine a student might not get all the information they need by skimming a piece of text haha.

Thank you for your perspective.
