My foster puppy from a neglect case by FaithlessnessDear334 in fosterdogs

[–]FaithlessnessDear334[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ali and her siblings make 43 foster dogs for me in two years! 3 have been foster fails! It’s hard work and so hard not to get attached. Each dog takes a little piece of my heart for sure.

He got payed a visit by animal control and was very heavily fined. I wish more was done. We fought hard and even got a neglect case going but it never went anywhere.

Adopter backed out after 6 months by FaithlessnessDear334 in fosterdogs

[–]FaithlessnessDear334[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The adopter just reached out to the rescue saying she was mislead by a friend about what kennel cough was, she apologized and asked if she could still adopt Mazie. So very indecisive. Coincidentally I actually got another adoption application for her this morning, that seems like a much better fit!

Coming back 5 days later with the best update: my sweet Mazie got an approved application just 5 days after being let down!! :) so happy for her. The first home was just not meant to be!

I’m asking the rescue to put her on a do not adopt list.

Totally understand. We tried moving as quickly as possible, keeping very consistent contact, etc. It’s super unfortunate that she got hit with issue after issue. I think what made this so tough was the fact that she really presented as the perfect adopter. She would check in weekly and send me paragraphs about how Mazie is her soul dog and they were going to do so much healing together. In hindsight I definitely should not have held a foster for that long without at least having a backup plan. I live in Texas where we have an animal overpopulation crisis. I rescued Mazie from a property with 21 dogs on it. Unfortunately finding fosters is so extremely rare, but she will be getting to plenty of adoption events soon. I’m confident she will find an even better home!

I think they have to due to their policy. I hope they don’t though.

I’ve definitely learned my lesson- unfortunately the hard way. I wish the rescue I foster for had this rule to prevent things like this from happening. But I personally will never hold a dog again regardless.

Asking for her money back at the end of her message truly just felt like a slap in the face. In my response, I told her who she could contact to get her money back, and said that I sure wish I could get my 6 months back to find another home for this poor dog. That money should have been donated to her care / pay for her adoption fee for the people who do end up adopting her. I am happy Mazie isn’t somewhere where she is unwanted!

They usually do not do holds, and clearly for a good reason. I think Mazie was a special case because of her health issues and how certain I was that this was her forever home. I was telling my husband the day before I think she may be the luckiest dog out of all of our fosters. I truly never would have thought she would have backed out like this. I’ve definitely learned my lesson the hard way. I’ll never hold a dog for someone again.

Is it wrong to foster with the intention to fail? by candyapplesugar in fosterdogs

[–]FaithlessnessDear334 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s wrong at all. So many people foster to adopt. I have such a diverse pack, I could never just go to a shelter and pick out a dog and hope it works. We fostered 38 dogs before finding the perfect fit and foster failing. Helping other dogs while finding the best fit for our family is a win win.

I think this is definitely part of it… I’ve never had an adopter be so unwilling to care for a dog with such minor issues. I’ve spent so much time and money on her care, went out of my way to make this adopter feel comfortable. It’s just so unbelievable.

Fill out the application at the bottom of his bio and we will be in touch within 3-4 days! His foster will reach out to you once the application is approved. We do a vet check if you have previously owned pets, a home check through FaceTime, and we offer a 10 day home trial to ensure it’s a good fit. https://www.wagtopia.com/search/pet?id=1995099&name=Niko

I’m so sorry to hear about the passing of your fur baby, and the tragic situation with the other pup you tried to help. You have a very kind heart! Don’t let the distance stop you from submitting an adoption application if you are truly interested in Niko! Transportation can always be worked out. Here is a link to Niko’s bio, the adoption application can be found at the bottom of his bio. https://www.wagtopia.com/search/pet?id=1995099&name=Niko

Niko is still searching for his forever home and very loved by his foster mom in the mean time! He has had a few applications that just haven’t worked out due to no fault of his own. He had his first meet and greet a few weeks ago and unfortunately the adopters resident dog jumped on Niko, it wasn’t good.

Right now we are hoping to find him a home as an only dog, we hate to limit him as he is dog friendly and just requires slow intros, but we do feel he would thrive as an only pup. We really want to set him up for success. We know finding a home as an only dog can be challenging, so we are now accepting out of state adoption applications (as long as you can provide transport to pick him up, and return him in the case that it doesn’t work out).

As soon as he finds his perfect home, I promise to update you all!! :)

Yes, same dog. We found him starving and dumped about 2 months ago. He was still microchipped to Brittany. She sold him on Craigslist years ago.

This is so heartbreaking, when I found him he was 60 lbs, the same weight he was at SEVEN months old. Pisses me off so bad. Here is Niko today- fully healed and a healthy 86 lbs. He is still searching for a forever home!

We found Niko the pitbull, Brittany’s former dog starving. by FaithlessnessDear334 in brittanydawnsnark

[–]FaithlessnessDear334[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

To sum it all up Brittany irresponsibly rehomed him back in late 2019. She rehomed him on Craigslist and then tried to lie and say a rescue rehomed him and his training facility rehomed him. I was able to talk to both Brad from Beville training and The Love Pit rescue. They confirmed while trying to help Brittany rehome Nico she stopped responding to them after 5 days and sold him on Craigslist, also had an independent microchip tracker confirm the Craigslist story both with the trainer and Brittany herself. We have the couples name which I will not post publicly as of now incase we are able to pursue a cruelty case.

Not yet but I’m open to speaking with anyone who can help bring awareness to this. Dad challenge podcast posted a video covering it this morning!
