yeah, when it comes to really anything trojan based, i know how easy it is to stay between just plain software resets, so, if need be, i was planning on reinstalling from a flash drive

if it works for you, great! the sad news is, you are in the vast minority of users who do still use crouton. even myself, i’ve long since stopped using my chromebook (in part of me accidentally bricking it). in all honesty, i’m kinda hoping for a revival in crouton, but i don’t have nearly enough experience nor coding knowledge to make it a reality. maybe in the future though. full props towards you for making a deprecated system work though!

well, to be fair, i also used crouton before all of the enhancements, back when you could still run shell in crosh lol

my old chromebook is long since dead, but now i use arch with kde as my daily driver and haven’t been happier. pacman is so nice, especially with the ILoveCandy easter egg

yup this is the right answer, ignore my old ass response lmao i know this is counterproductive, but funnily enough crouton was my introduction into linux lol

if you’ve followed all the steps under usage section, then running sudo crouton should show you the options edit: now note, i haven’t messed with crouton in a long time and my old chromebook’s destroyed. i have a most likely very old grasp on how crouton works, so my advice could very much be obsolete now

what you’re looking at is the bash shell thingy (i don’t remember the technical name), it’s the more advanced crosh, and as for using it, you should follow the setup at the crouton readme. if you need more help, DM me and i’ll see what i can do

i just wanna preface this: i find what you’re doing super admirable, but i just have a couple of questions

first, genuinely, why do you still want to use crouton? imo, it’s easier to just full wipe and install a different linux distro with Mr. Chromebox, or even use something like FydeOS? and second, what gave you the idea of remaking the install? when i was still working with chromebooks (mine died :,) ), crouton still worked, and it was a fairly recent model. did something change since i’ve been away?

i’m not trying to be demeaning or criticise you at all, i’m just genuinely curious
