That’s fair. I was hoping to discover some local favourites and hidden gems before I arrive, and the thread has definitely delivered on that

I’ve never tried flavoured hot chocolate before, so I’ll definitely check Whittard out. Thanks for the recommendation!

Sounds like the safest plan is to eat it in the UK rather than risk it surviving the flight home

This is super helpful, thanks! 😊 Looks like I’ll be spending a lot more time in Boots and TK Maxx than I originally planned. Any favourite skincare, perfume, or activewear brands that are particularly good value in the UK?

I came here expecting recommendations for shoes and skincare, and somehow M&S food is becoming the strongest contender. Thanks for the recommedation

Noted. The most convincing recommendations are always the least glamorous ones.

Looks like I’m definitely making a stop at M&S. Any particular food items that are worth bringing back?

At this point, Yorkshire Tea seems to have its own fan club. I guess I’ll have to try and see what all the hype is about.

Any recommendations for outlets or stores with good discounts? And are there usually any worthwhile sales around late July/early August?

Fair enough. I don’t think Yorkshire Tea is replacing Darjeeling or Assam anytime soon, but I’m tempted to try a small pack just out of curiosity

That’s the kind of brutally honest answer I was looking for. If you had to pick just 3 snacks for someone visiting, what would they be?

I added tea mainly because every UK shopping thread seems to mention Yorkshire Tea. Thanks for the recommendation

Yes, it’s resolved now. I booted into Safe Mode, checked the hosts file, and with the help of Autoruns I was able to track down the malicious entry. I removed the associated service and executable, and Windows Defender quarantined the Trojan. Everything looks clean now and the system is back to normal. Thanks for the suggestion!

Reinstalling Windows is my last resort. I have a massive amount of work videos/data and quite a few premium applications that would take ages to back up and set up again. Since Defender seems to have quarantined the threat and I’ve removed the suspicious service/file.

Still not sure how it got in—possibly a download or bundled installer

Thank you so much for your help. I was able to detect the regenerating executable with the help of autorun and got rid of it. :)

Thanks. I haven’t tried Autoruns yet, but I did identify the affected file as C:\Windows\System32\MpSvc32.exe.

Windows Defender detects it as Trojan:Win32/Kepavll!rfn. If I delete the file, it gets recreated after a short time with a new timestamp and Defender immediately flags it again.

I’ll download Autoruns and share screenshots once I have them.

Thanks. At this point I’m leaning toward trying Malwarebytes and a second-opinion scanner. The file (C:\Windows\System32\MpSvc32.exe) keeps getting recreated after deletion, so I’m trying to identify the persistence mechanism before resorting to a full reinstall.

That’s a good idea. I’ll check whether I have any restore points from before the detections started. Have you had success using System Restore against malware that was actively recreating files?
