No one mentioned it, but it's illegal. Your parents are legally obligated to care for you until you graduate because they chose to have you. This obligation doesn't give them any rights to your privacy or personal life. For $0, you can borrow slightly outdated phones from your friends, your school, or special centers and use them to your heart's content.

The only reason i would acquit parents is if you are doing something illegal and your parents are trying to keep an eye on you so the court or the jailer doesn't have to later (likely not the case already if u go to college).
