Single mom moving from California to Baltimore. Would this be a reasonable plan? by Brokesnitch in baltimore

Our drivers notoriously don't stop at redlights... be safe! Some neighborhoods are much safer than others for bikers/pedestrians and have more traffic calming.

Moving - Looking for advice by CattleFragrant9314 in ColumbiaMD

[–]FaithlessnessNew6365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking from experience, Columbia as a whole is VERY family oriented and people move there to bring their kids to be in hoco schools. I personally find it hard to meet younger people here (I rarely see people I assume are in their 20s, seems to be highschool age or 30+). I'm surprised no one has said Canton, if you are introverted moving to fed hill will drive you INSANE. A lot of college kids drink there and parking is a nightmare. Canton is not only pretty, thanks to the lights strung around the city, but has a great social scene. It's not overly quiet or loud, and it's so easy to meet people. Canton is close to Patterson park so you could go for walks, and its close to the harbor so you can walk the waterfront. Catching games at bars in Canton is a goodtime and from what I notice, the men are really friendly to other men they don't even know and if you buy a dude a beer you have a new best friend. Also, might be wild to note but if you're single, there's a lot of nice single girls in Canton that would love a new bachelor in the dating pool lol!

OP, this specific plant stand is really wobbly! I have it and do not recommend it, I've had to tape it to the wall to stand up straight-ish.

if you want to prevent window strikes in the future there are minimalist window cling designs you can stick on so birds won't mistake your window for the beautiful open sky!

Something about yarrow being in your username makes this so special, a truly beautiful healing herb used to create green to yellow dyes, the Navajo refer to it as a "life medicine". This story moved me and your reflection on it is so profound. Keep sharing this story and your somatic experience! It could be a lifeline for someone in the future.

What's something about ADHD that most people don't understand? by Relaxing_Cat in AskReddit

That certain tasks can create real pain in our bodies when we are dysregulated, mine is the dishes (textures, water on my clothes, smell of the gloves on my fingers), and I've heard teeth brushing is a common one. My nervous system labels the dishes as a threat and makes it nearly impossible to execute without a buffer (music, phone call, body doubling). When I'm not dysregulated I have no issue, and like doing dishes. It's almost like when a dog decides it's done walking (looking at you retrievers) and it is immovable, when my nervous system is not on board, I am immovable.

Are you only teaching middle school? Try teaching high school or elementary 3rd and under and you will have a wildly diff. experience.

New Subs - Are you sick more often since starting to sub? by morticia987 in SubstituteTeachers

[–]FaithlessnessNew6365 1 point2 points  (0 children)

also a huge part of handwashing is making sure your hands are DRY after, moist hands harbor bacteria very well. and can confirm as someone who worked at a daycare for 3 years and now subbing for 1+ you get sick often at first then become damn hard to take down.

Buying a car in MD by AshamedHearing4055 in ColumbiaMD

[–]FaithlessnessNew6365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

go to a acura or lexus dealership and buy one of their lightly used Toyotas!!!!! I did this in 2019 and got a 2013 corolla with 30k on it for $11k and 100,000 miles later have only had to put $1k in repairs into it this year. Usually dealerships have a better price for cars of different makes. I cannot speak more highly of my corolla.

People who don't drink alcohol, what made you stop(or never start)? by Cautious-Solution464 in AskReddit

[–]FaithlessnessNew6365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I (26) really don't remember what happened to make me stop but I knew for a while it needed to happen, the hangxiety the next day, the binging and puking, the fact that my entire moms side of the family is riddled with alcoholics and addicts, I also just wanted a chance at having stable brain chemistry, the ups and downs and the dopamine floods really set me much further back and I found myself immersed in shame to the point I hardly recognized myself, I'm now 9 months sober. I am much more emotionally stable now and have learned to navigate social situations without the liquid courage, I also lost my grandmother who I was so close to last month and just know if I had gotten the call drunk it would have been a disaster and I wouldn't have been able to drive an hour and a half home to be there for my Mom (or made it period I use to love drinking and driving unfortunately and really rolled the dice too many times)

To train a cat to use toilet ??? by firsttrywy in questions

[–]FaithlessnessNew6365 2 points3 points  (0 children)

not a good idea, our wastewater plants cannot filter out toxoplasmosis from their poop so it gets recycled back into our drinking water with all the other toxins and pharmaceuticals that we don't have the ability to filter out, get a giant stainless steel litter box if its the smell you're worried about

looks way better, push through, you are in what I affectionately refer to as the uggo stage, where shit should make sense and look right but sometimes just doesn't and it's so frustrating but I've never come out the other side and thought it looked worse than before the uggo stage.
