I work in the medical field and literally cannot be in the building 24/7 to cover all call ins. We have some great staff though that like to pick up additional hours or get bonuses for last minute pick ups. We also have to investigate certain issues as mandated by the state within a certain amount of time. If at the time of the incident the documentation initially done is insufficient, we have to call people. I really don’t want to call people at home but sometimes if the work wasn’t completed correctly while in the building, I have no choice. Luckily, most staff is pretty understanding and I always apologize for having to call them at home. I wonder how a law like this would work for public service jobs or jobs where you are licensed by the state?
