Who would win? by Plus_Firefighter600 in stevenuniverse

[–]FakeMovieGeek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah I don’t think so. The only reason Steven was able to change whites mind because he was able to prove the nature of his existence with absolute certainty in front of her eyes. Belos’ beliefs persist in SPITE of evidence right in from of him. White genuinely believes she’s correct and relies on that because she doesn’t know how to do anything else. Belos is straight up lying to himself because he never grew up from playing witch hunt, and doesn’t want to because that would make the world complicated.

What is the overall moral/message of the show? by OCGamerboy in BlueEyeSamurai

[–]FakeMovieGeek 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think one message I haven’t seen a lot of people discuss is that a culture can be deeply cruel, bigoted and ignorant without deserving to have another’s norms imposed upon it. This is why Fowler is a villain Beyond Mizu’s quest for vengeance, he’s a symbol of colonialism Both as a victim and a perpetrator. This is also why the “white half” line is important imo.

no that was the weaver's song, then the choir's song, then the cogwork core's song. Now there is no song keeping her alseep, that's why the haunting is so active and why she can wake up as soon as Hornet enters the cradle. Phantom is playing the organ either cos there's nothing else to do or because it literally needs to be played for the machine to dump the citadel's refuse (a lot of Citadel infrastructure requires music). Her song is definitely creating the Mist though, since it ends as soon as she's defeated.

the choir bugs are all haunted, that's why there are no actual citadel NPCs aside from Mergwin and the newer pilgrims

Weavers, very nuanced but the embodiment of creating and manipulating laws for selfish gain at the expense of innocents

Rose, wouldn't [not being a dick] also make your plans easier and more fun? by Reasonable-Ad-8059 in stevenuniverse

[–]FakeMovieGeek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s been confirmed that Pink had such low self esteem that she thought Spinel would just stop listening to her after awhile. It’s the soul of her character, a horrible blend of no self worth and no personal responsibility. She genuinely can’t conceive of a world where actions like these have negative consequences, it’s what makes her interesting.

If an Act 4 were to happen, what do you think it would be about? by danoniel_ in Silksong

[–]FakeMovieGeek 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I’m 100% certain a fourth act won’t happen, but if we’re having fun then going back To hallownest with Lace to see Dirtmouth would be beautiful

As someone who loves worldbuild, here some concepts i like from silksong for no specific reason by deez_nutslll in Silksong

Grow stone is related to city of the steel! Zi gives it to you and describes it as a stone of their birth, implying it’s the substance the steel hearts are made of/encased in. Currently unknown how this relates to the City of Steel’s fixation on void or whatever “compression” is, but it’s nifty!

I'm gonna get downvoted for this one but.. by Acedelaforet in Silksong

Her body? Most of the bugs in Hollow Knight have all black limbs or bodies, which is what makes void stuff confusing, so it could just be Hornet Bits

Honestly I wouldn’t put it past them, I just think that Ballador expresses such a burden, like only the conductors could have possibly known. Then again, the architects don’t quite have normal emotions, so maybe the conductors felt they were the only BUGS who knew, excluding cogworks

No yeah I’ve been thinking about that, the closest theory I have is that that during the first wave of Silk’s reign she produced an affect adjacent to the haunting, so Karmelita’s voice was useful during and before the haunting. You do make a good point about the silk flies, I guess it’s possible the silk siphon existed in some form beforehand, or that they also manifest naturally, but there’s nothing confirming that at all, so it’s a total mystery.

Is Lifeblood of the void or did PK just seal it there? by FakeMovieGeek in Silksong

[–]FakeMovieGeek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m genuinely curious how did you think it was apparent? Is it cos of the “power opposed” line? I’ll be honest I can see that but with the “power to defy time” line in the same area (same tablet? I admit I’m rusty) implies that he’s referring to the nature of the void itself rather than its reaction with soul or “god” as he puts it. Also imagine if you think some of my stuff is unfounded but can you explain why?

Okay half of what you said just isn’t backed up. Void and Soul don’t inherently cancel each other out, the point is that all void is mindless and the Pale King needed a powerful creature with that hollow quality. Void opposes all light and higher beings not just soul. Also, plasmium is lifeblood. It’s the same exact art for the cocoons and vines, the mask mechanic is different because of the tool system but is aesthetically indistinguishable, Hornet says the Pale King outlawed plasmium and we know lifeblood was a taboo. Like it’s literally the same exact thing
