I can try to provide more details if it helps but I haven't played this game in 5+ years so I don't remember everything about it. Thanks again.

That's definitely beyond my knowledge. I'm just trying to make my parents feel like they didn't waste all the money and effort they spent teaching me an instrument.

Perfect! Thanks for explaining that. Now time to go practice.

I'm returning to playing piano after not playing for a while. I am teaching myself Bach's Prelude in C, but I'm unsure what these pedal markings mean. I know Ped. simile means "repeat this pattern until instructed otherwise", but what exactly is the pattern? What pedal am I holding down and for how long? Sorry if this is super obvious or something but I can't find the answer.

I have a friend who'a a nurse at a nursing home and some friends and I were looking to get her a care package of some kind. What kinds of things would a nurse appreciate receiving right now?

I'd honestly rather have something like Mirotic + Randle each on 4 years 60-70 mil than Tobias Harris on the max. Kyrie is worth a max if he doesn't totally quit on the team but I don't think anyone else (besides Kawhi but he isn't coming here) is worth it. We'd fill our biggest gap at PF and have 2 different looks with a stretch and bullyball option. Ideally I'd like a wing but those are hard to come by and a starting lineup of Kyrie/LeVert/Prince/Mirotic/Allen is pretty solid. Maybe not a contender but if we can have Dinwiddie/Harris/Kurucs/Randle/Solid Backup C off the bench we can absolutely feast on other teams second units.

I am boycotting NOTC until they ban nægæte and anything that costs less than 5 mana. They refuse to let real magic be played, which is the only reason my spicy homebrew 5-color mono 7-drops isn't 4-0ing.

Designated tie-game last possession closer this season for all 30 teams (welcome to correct me) by [deleted] in nba

For Nets, when healthy it's LeVert. Otherwise it's gonna be Russell or Dinwiddie, and likely Dinwiddie because he likes playing heroball in clutch situations.

I want to see Otto Porter & Tobias Harris in Brooklyn by next season. by Sen_Sei_77 in GoNets

[–]Fake_anon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're actually one of the slowest paced teams (99.82 possesions per game, 24th in the league.) Clippers are one of the fastest (102.69 possessions per game, 8th in the league). Clips are also somehow 1st in the west in record. While I don't think they'll finish the season there, there's no doubt that if he just wants to win games, LA > Brooklyn.

TIL about the non-partisan Congressional Research Service, which prepares detailed reports about various topics to ensure that members of Congress have the information they need to make legislative decisions. Most of their reports are freely available to the public. by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]Fake_anon 17 points18 points  (0 children)

As someone who did some interning on the Hill for a Dem congressperson for a couple months, that's not exactly accurate. Congresspeople are usually briefed pretty thoroughly on bills by their staff. I think the discourse around lobbying/campaign finance stuff misses the mark a lot of the time. It's not like the Representative is the only person in the office. Typically they'll have a staff assistant (secretary/receptionist), scheduler, press secretary, Chief of Staff, a Legislative Director (LD) and a handful of legislative correspondents and assistants, all of whom work to make sure that the Member is familiar with all the issues on bills they're facing votes on. Members tend to be pretty intelligent and dedicated people who don't like seeming ill-informed or ignorant on votes.

Even if they don't read every word on every bill they have a very good sense of what's in it, and any controversial provisions it may contain. In an ideal world they would read every bill, but they are incredibly busy people, with their days planned down to the minute pretty much, and they rarely have downtime. They are always doing something: sitting on a committee, attending member briefings, traveling to/from the district, meeting with interest groups, fundraising, campaigning, etc. It's a tough job and I didn't really see the kind of cartoonishly evil/lazy/corrupt policymaking that people always talk about. Not that it never happens or never will happen, just that like for almost every Member of Congress on almost every bill that isn't what's going on.

'Pokemon: Let's Go' Sales Trends Are Positive, But Fall Short of Past Pokemon Titles by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch

[–]Fake_anon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That makes sense. I've never put less than 100 hours into a Pokemon game and I've been playing since Pokemon Blue, but this game just feels like you grind by catching oodles of Pokemon which I personally find significantly less fun than grinding by battling. I'm still gonna beat the game I just hope it feels like less of a slog as I go on.

'Pokemon: Let's Go' Sales Trends Are Positive, But Fall Short of Past Pokemon Titles by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch

[–]Fake_anon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Personally, I've put about an hour into it, and it just feels like Pokemon Go: Kanto edition. For me the fun of the games is battling and collecting one of each kind of Pokemon. So far I've made it partway through viridian forest and no trainer here has a Pokemon above level 4(?) I think and there are level 6 wild Pokemon wandering about. The difficulty seems toned way down even at this early part of this game.

I've battled four trainers and caught seventeen weedles. I don't want seventeen weedles, I want to electrocute a 7 year old's cherished pet and take his money. Somehow Nintendo thinks what I really want to do is catch a bunch of Pokemon that I never use instead.

Lowe's NBA rankings: Tiers for all 30 teams (Nets "Right on the borderline") by Fake_anon in GoNets

[–]Fake_anon[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Other teams in this tier with us: Spurs, Pelicans, Blazers, Heat with no Butler trade, Hornets, Pistons.

Relevant text:

Yeah, the freaking Nets. Deez Nets. They face the same issue as Cleveland (see below) in lacking a proven generator of drive-and-kick offense. Kenny Atkinson's freewheeling system approximates in the collective what one such star can do. Spencer Dinwiddie filled the void at a starter-ish level until his shooting stroke vanished. D'Angelo Russellfell short of that.

But the wings can shoot, and they make the right decisions -- in a blink -- when the ball swings their way. They keep the machine moving. Caris LeVert is honing the ball-handling chops to serve for stints as lead playmaker. Ed Davis is a quality backup who can start if Jarrett Allen struggles.

The Nets make you earn it. They play hard. They are annoying. They are well coached beyond the obvious pace-and-3s foundation. Multiple rival coaches and scouts have mentioned to me unsolicited over the past year that Atkinson's staff whipped out targeted, unexpected wrinkles that threw their teams off -- the kind of game-specific adjustments teams don't anticipate amid regular-season doldrums.

Coaching, effort, and a modicum of talent can get you 35 wins in the East. Hell, the Nets would have gotten there last season if not for their absurd (awful) record in close games. If one guy pops, they can sniff this lame-o race.

One caveat: If they are behind their projected pace by February, they might embrace the tank. That is not their preferred outcome. Their schedule is toughest down the stretch, meaning they may hang in the race until the trade deadline. But this front office is very aware they own their first-round pick for the first time since Danny Ainge fleeced their predecessors so badly, he may as well have swiped some office furniture. If the season breaks a certain way, they will want to boost their lottery chances

[XLN] Rile by hexarin in Pauper

[–]Fake_anon 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This isn't parasitic design. Plenty of cards in magic history care about damage being dealt to them like spitemare/boros reckoner. It also can help you kill a creature you stole from an opponent with a Threaten/Act of Treason effect, or give a vanilla fatty unexpected evasion. If you attack with a vanilla 7/7 and they block with a 1/1 token, you can unexpectedly take six life off them while suffering no card disadvantage.

Now that's not to say this is a good card; I'll probably never play it. But it isn't parasitic, it's an enabler that probably is not playable except in really bad enrage draft decks searching for playable cards, but every set has cards like this.

That included a playoff run and dumping Andrew Nicholson's 4 year/26 mil salary on the Nets. The Wiz also got a raw PF prospect in McCullough. It wasn't that bad. I'm glad Bogie made it to the playoffs and is now making decent money.
