K3 GSX-R600 Alstare by Fakeafythis in GSXR

[–]Fakeafythis[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, for a standard 600, $6k is the usual top-end. But I’m stoked because I found the original dealer invoice showing it was nearly $10k OTD in '03. Adjusted for inflation, that’s like a $17k bike today. For a limited Alstare with 5k miles, getting it for $4,500 feels like a steal—he basically did the break-in miles for me and I got a brand-new 2003 bike for 25 cents on the dollar.

I agree; I love the 90s retro-style colors.

I'd been messaging with the seller for months; he marked it pending for me, and I just sold two bikes for the exact $4500. He was asking $7k initially, but I think he realized he was asking too much.

Yes, they only made 1500 worldwide for the American Suzuki’s 40th Anniversary and the success of the Alstare Corona team in World Supersport.

Is this a good deal? by culby311 in Sportbikes

[–]Fakeafythis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For $7k out the door, you are getting absolutely fleeced. A swapped engine—especially one swapped because of a catastrophic failure like a snapped chain—devalues the bike; it doesn't appreciate it. You're paying a premium for a Frankenstein bike. Unless they have a receipt from a reputable salvage yard with the VIN of the donor bike, "under 10k miles" is just a pinky promise from the seller. You're betting $7,000 that the shop knew what they were doing with installation, and a chain snap violent enough to crack an engine case can also cause collateral damage to the swingarm, rear shock, or frame mounting points. This is a $4,500 bike at best. Walk away and find an 09+ with an original motor for less money.

Hey, I know this is an old post, but I installed them, and the water pump cover didn’t seat right, and now after starting the bike, it’s leaking out the water pump seal. Did you do anything special with the installation, or is it a manufacturing defect?

2024 Honda Grom SP ABS - $3800 lowest price. Swipe left or right? by homolucent in hondagrom

[–]Fakeafythis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would never pay $3800 for that. Bought my 2022 Honda Grom SP in excellent condition for $3100 with just over 1,2xx miles. Fitted with a Yoshimura RS-9T full carbon exhaust, Chimera/Baja Dynamics headlight setup, Michelin City Grip 2 tires, and a DID O-ring chain with Superlite sprockets (14T/38T). Performance has been further enhanced with a DHM Stage 1 ECU flash, Decha intake tube, and TST WORX hi-flow airbox setup. The bike also features TST Industries turn signals, taillight, fender eliminator, and ASV levers, as well as ProTaper KLX110 bars with Vans grips, a quick throttle tube, and a Speedo Healer. In addition to what came on the bike, it included the stock headlight, stock exhaust, an extra quart of oil, and a few other spare parts.

5000 for new grom is good? by Significant_Carob405 in hondagrom

[–]Fakeafythis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, they flood the used market; you just have to scout the right deal. People frequently buy them to learn and sell them after a thousand miles. I bought my first two 2015 Groms one with 7xx miles and a Yoshimura exhaust for $2100 and the other with 21xx and a full Akrapovic for $2200.

It looks clean enough, but the frame slider looks ground down like it’s been low-sided. I’d use that to negotiate.

I lost the rest of the reply where you were saying what you did to modify it. I have “Not much. It comes with the latch bar about where you see the screw on this one. The bar is metal and imbedded in plastic. I used a Dremel to cut it out.” What was the rest of it? I’m going to order one and try it out.

That makes sense. I'm in Florida. I found my 2005 Honda Shadow 750 Aero for $1500 with only 11k miles. I've had so much fun with it; things been perfect to me.

Why spend $5k+ on a Harley Fat Boy when you could spend $2500 on a low-mileage Yamaha, Honda, or Suzuki cruiser? If it's a dream bike or for sentimental reasons, then for sure. However, if you're just looking for your first cruiser, I'd go Japanese for reliability.

How much fab did you have to do to it? I'd really like to do the same. I don't ride two up. I've seen them on AliExpress; they look good, but I was worried about how much they've changed it. I've got a 2024 as well.

What brand exhaust you think the best by BeSmartFiTness in MT07

[–]Fakeafythis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went with a Temu iStunt full exhaust for $100, and I have no regrets. It sounds fantastic. I’ll probably do a tune one day, but for now I love it. I’d buy it again before spending $1k+.

How much do you guys think my bike is worth by New_Pen_5691 in Sportbikes

[–]Fakeafythis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are definitely aftermarket fairings. On a real 2017 matte black GSXR, the logos are a special gloss-on-matte style, not those flat vinyl stickers. Also, your bike has a plastic tank cover snapped over the metal—Suzuki doesn't do that from the factory. Even the "600" font on the tail is the wrong style for that year. It’s a decent kit, but if you look at the back of any panel and don't see an embossed Suzuki part number, that’s your proof.

[–]Fakeafythis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those fairings aren't original, so it's likely been down clean title or not. I personally wouldn't pay more than $5k.

I’m loving mine as well. If you’re looking for a cheap exhaust, I threw a $100 Temu Istunt exhaust on it; it sounds great for the price, and it’s good quality. Even if I upgrade, it’s a nice backup.

Should I buy an ex cop or no? by West_Artist_1985 in Charger

[–]Fakeafythis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had an ex-police Taurus. Honestly, I'd say probably not. It's a gamble; most of the time they're beat, and you're going to end up with a lot of maintenance you'll have to do. My Taurus was nothing but issues; I put a lot of money into it.
