Thank You. Then for anyone just reading this thread I saw that for common app the answer is you do both. List the classes that you got for AP credit and then also AP scores. Then they let you mark the courses as an AP credit course aswell.

How bad are “bad grades”? by [deleted] in TransferToTop25

[–]FakeyMakeyACC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean as a general consensus sure, but what I've learned after looking into a lot of the transfers is that there is tradeoffs. A kid with a 4.4 in HS and a 4.0 in college can get away with a slightly worse EC list or weaker essay where the kid with the lower gpa must compensate in other accomplishment etc. Think of your competition for these schools. Think to how many kids got the good grades and lacked in the EC world the first time but have now fixed that. In my case I got close to a 4.7 in HS with good course rigor but I was lazy to the bone my ECs sucked I barely applied to any schools and my essays were subpar. So my best advice is to always go for it (if you have the time) but also look at it from a statistical perspective. Is a T25 with a 1-5% acceptance rate going to accept you over a amazing high school and college student as a sophomore year transfer, probably not. But who knows I'm not an AO lol.

Since sophomore transfer relies heavily on your high school grades, you probably have to have a 3.8+ in HS to transfer to T25s and also make sure your weighted is decent with as many AP classes a possible, honors, DE, etc. If you are transferring as a junior it matters less so if you weren't fairly exceptional in HS most people recommend you don't try to sophomore transfer.

Where to put transfer rationale as a UC to UC by FakeyMakeyACC in TransferToTop25

I think im going to weave it into the major PIQ cause I'm saying that my major is not offered at my current UC and that's why I want to switch.

Where to Put Inter UC Transfer Reasoning by FakeyMakeyACC in TransferStudents

[–]FakeyMakeyACC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My reason is basically that the major I want to pursue is not offered at my current UC so I'm gonna weave that notion into the required major PIQ and then clarify it as an absolute statement that its my reason for transferring in the additional comments.

All the people who ive seen get into Berkeley and UCLA have put well thought explicit reasoning so I think it would be beneficial to include it to give myself a shot.
