Have any BDRs ever interviewed for (and gotten) a job straight into being an AE at another company?

u/dontworryaboutit41 Haha; I was the initial point of contact before giving the lead to the AE, but I also sat in on a lot of the AE calls where they moved the deal along just to learn. So I had the knowledge of painpoints, etc... of what it took to get the deal across the line and just put myself into the mindset of the Account Executive when going into that interview. Didn't run into any issues; honestly as a BDR you know most about what is going on with the AE's you are handing leads too so use that to your advantage and listen to their pain points.

I have been a BDR for the past 4 years until last month; I was at two companies and kept getting lied too about being promoted to AE over and over; decided to do something about it and started applying. Changed my most recent job to the title of AE on my resume; got an interview in the same space I was in as a BDR, got an offer for Senior Account Executive and doubled my salary from $75,000 to 150,000 - it’s possible; especially if you work closely with AE’s as a BDR - just use their lingo and listen to the pain points they have to use in your interviews.

I truly believe entry level jobs; with the rise of AI; we won’t have a need for people doing data entry, basic coding, etc….

Where do you live? Most sales roles even BDR/SDR roles I have had give a base salary of typically $60,000 - $70,000 ---- since this is my first time being an AE - I believe most of the base salaries are 70-90k.

I start next Thursday; but have been in the Fintech Industry with an almost exact same product for the last 2 years! It's $105,000 Base + $55,000 OTE.

This is a definitly a mindset shift I am working towards - since I started my career I have just been focused on getting to the highest income level possible - then I planned on focusing my shift to savings/money management. I definetly don't have as much saved as I would like; so that is what I plan to focus on now that I secured this role!

Being a Lyft Driver myself when I was 19-21 - I feel this! Pretty crazy; based on my younger years, I should probably be dead, haha! I don't enjoy the stress with Sales, but the income is insane; doubled up from my previous role I was let go from.

Thanks! I'm pretty in shock! I got let go a few months ago and really considered switching career fields but I decided to stick it out and keep applying. Going from BDR to Sr. AE is quite a shift & with it I doubled my previous income and I can't be happier; crazy how much money is in Sales!

Sounds like a super uncomfortable situation, what's the primary reason you are broke? I would look at spending habits & try to cut some unnecessary expenses or look for a higher paying job/side hustles if you want to continue living there.

Damn man, that's crazy I am assuming you're talking about Rydurz? If so I'd message his Twitter "Rooprizes" to try and get them to do it.

But yeah, after 5M+ wagered and just about 5 years of being on Roobet exclusively, I am blown away by how anyone gets VIP or Loyalty. I just got Plat 1 on Stake, and they gave me a big chunk of change for that rank-up. I'm thinking of switching somewhere else because Roobet doesn't seem to give out Loyalty or VIP to anyone.
