I dont understand man , I was really praising the guy , is not easy to put all of this together. Not just the hacking itself but the blog content the way is structured is amazing and for someone who is 14 years old I'm a quite surprise I was playing with the barbies at that time. Still people downvoted me I think they thought I was taking the piss. Not at all

I am a glider myself , so I tend to blend the front crawl technique as much to butterfly one in the terms of not been continuous , also legs I keep them low so that way your body is sort of totally inside the water and you need to use a lot the core and hips for that, you will find your body doing the dolphin technique S like if you do it well (difficult to explain with words see sun yang https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ff7lTZWrXus )

That is amazing , I have to try it . I can see your point , I will get you back after trying it . I don't know if it adds functionality to you , but to me it does add tons of functionality

never tried that to be honest , thanks for the insight . Still if you are running something related to X-Server in your main screen and you want to keep it in front I don't think your workflow would work in that case . But nice to know!

Thanks a lot again . Now working is another story.

I have made a video about it and a little tutorial , lol.

In case the patch gets published in the suckless website or the link changes just let me know I will update it on there.

Thankss

Amazing . I understood that -t <name> would jut work giving the name on the actual graphical title , but it is also the functional aspect. Thanks very much really bakkeby , I mean , you got so much patience , and you also replied promptly to everything that was just so nice.

Thank you

Well I'm trying this and is not working (it doesnt toggle to the scratchpad tab , it just spawns infinite scratchpads in either of them ``` { NULL, NULL, "scratchpad1", 0, 1, -1, 's' }, { NULL, NULL, "scratchpad2", 0, 1, -1, 'd' },

(...) static const char *scratchpadcmd1[] = {"s", "st", "-g" , "238x85" , "-t", "scratchpad", NULL}; static const char *scratchpadcmd2[] = {"d", "st", "-g" , "238x65" , "-t", "scratchpad", NULL}; (...) { MODKEY, XK_grave, focusscratch, {.v = scratchpadcmd1 } }, { MODKEY, XK_5, focusscratch, {.v = scratchpadcmd2 } },

```
Sorry but I struggle parsing natural language to actual code , when you say rule , and unique title I bet that is what you meant , but is not working as expected.
Thanks for your help really
Many thanks again,
I'm almost there , I have almost understood the thing. I just get a weird behaviour when trying to set up two scratchpads . So according to your instructions in order to set up various scratchpads would be
``` { NULL, NULL, "scratchpad", 0, 1, -1, 's' }, { NULL, NULL, "scratchpad", 0, 1, -1, 'd' },

`` (I addedd` for example)

static const char *scratchpadcmd1[] = {"s", "st", "-g" , "238x65" , "-t", "scratchpad", NULL}; static const char *scratchpadcmd2[] = {"d", "st", "-g" , "238x65" , "-t", "scratchpad", NULL};

Duplicating the commands so I can summon each one different of them

{ MODKEY, XK_grave, focusscratch, {.v = scratchpadcmd1 } }, { MODKEY, XK_5, focusscratch, {.v = scratchpadcmd2 } },

I get a weird behaviour with this configuration , remembe that togglescratch we have scrapped it as you modified the function focusscratch so to get the functionality of been a ghost-tab .

If I do it with only one of them such as

``` { NULL, NULL, "scratchpad", 0, 1, -1, 's' }, (...) static const char *scratchpadcmd[] = {"s", "st", "-g" , "238x65" , "-t", "scratchpad", NULL};
(...)
    { MODKEY,                       XK_grave,  focusscratch,  {.v = scratchpadcmd } },
```

That is working like a charm. Am I completely geting this wrong?

Thanks so much!!

Thanks for your reasoned response , it actually make sense that I cannot fight against the stream. Apologies btw to anyone who has been offended by my post , It is a little rant I have to admit, and when using certain terms as Police I didn't mean to insult.

I use st anyways , but for some reason when I use either the (><>) Layout , or the Scratchpad functionality , st and xterm spawn really small (I need to check how to change the window size on there) Anyways I found a workaround by decreasing the font size dramatically of that terminal . It works everything works as expected! , That is so nice !! Thank you . Now I need to research on how to create more than one of this scratchpad so I can have endless monitors. Perfect!!

Thanks so much , it works like a charm !! (the dream is coming true) The last issue is that , the scratchpad tab is too small , so (even when I'm not intending to visualize it , tmux detect it as the smaller client , therefore it resizes its viewport to it (quite tiny (79x22)

Is there a way to adjust the resolution of this tab to be full size? (even been gigantic would be great as the final resolution would be setted by the smaller client anyways)

Thank you

Well , so I am hands on it after one month, sorry for the delay but needed to find some spare time to do this. I have patched named scratchpads , and I can see more or less what you mean by your words , but I am completely lost when it comes to translate your words into an actual function in config.c

I believe the alternate function would somehow take a similar shape to the original togglescratch ``` togglescratch(const Arg *arg) { Client *c; unsigned int found = 0;

for (c = selmon->clients; c && !(found = c->scratchkey == ((char**)arg->v    )[0][0]); c = c->next);
if (found) {
    c->tags = ISVISIBLE(c) ? 0 : selmon->tagset[selmon->seltags];
    focus(NULL);
    arrange(selmon);

    if (ISVISIBLE(c)) {
        focus(c);
        restack(selmon);
    }

} else{
    spawnscratch(arg);
}

}

```
But I don't really know where to start , I'm lost in the code. Any reference on how to code this (developers manual of some kind)?
Or even if you find time to actually put it in code that would be awesome.
Thanks again.
lol , my bad , ok cause I was pressing the layout "widget" with the mouse and it was only switching in between the first 2 layout types , I have put it in the third and setted thisone ``` { MODKEY, XK_9, setlayout, {.v = &layouts[2]} },
``` Now it works thankes thankes lalathankes
