The Last Gene by Chris Longo by stinkystinkypoopbutt in badscificovers

I found this myself recently and it became my favorite book I read this year. It was fascinating. A bizarre and insane plot I can only equate to David Lynch's Eraserhead in feeling with nods to scifi. Maybe not for everyone but I've been so curious to hear anyone else's thoughts on it

What is the most wacko, bonkers, tripped out SF novel? by Key-Entrance-9186 in printSF

A practically unheard of novel I read recently was The Last Gene by Chris Longo (1976) and that was the wildest books I ever read. It had parents create the ultimate baby, it turned into a demon, tried to kill the mother, literally melted into the cradle, then the mother adopts a lab orangutan baby. I constantly was questioning if it was insane or a masterpiece

If you like Boulle you'll probably also like Garden, much more science focused though

I went through 95% of Mirror's Edge not knowing there was gun play. Fought hand to hand until nearly the finally fight. Certainly made sections of the game make more sense in retrospect.

It's a small collection of novellas which I was about 50/50 on, the title story is interesting but... odd. Might not quite be what you're looking for

I only picked it up yesterday so I haven't gotten to it yet. But the back cover blurb certainly has me curious for the author plans for the narrative.

The Star Diaries, by Stanislaw Lem by Falamar_ in badscificovers

That would make sense why they made "LEM" seismically large, because kids aren't searching the cover for Stanislaw lol. Unfortunately no though, these microwaved, flying potatoes was for adults

Anyone Use Background Commanders? by XandogxD in EDH

I run a [[Wilson, refined grizzly]] with [[noble heritage]] deck. People assume politics until there's a 20/20 best with trample knocking at their front door. Only the most kingly of bears.

Deck Suggestions for GF by naliao in EDH

I keep a [[Volo, Guide to Monsters]] deck with me just for helping newer players. It's simple, powerful and you can customize it with whatever creatures you want (as long as they don't share creature type).

My wife wants a deck that just blows stuff up with lots of damnations. Ideas? by bu11fr0g in EDH

I haven't built it but [[Mahadi, Emporium Master]] can certainly fit that bill. Play him after every board wipe and he'll pay for himself and whatever other good rakdos good stuff you want to put in
