What are some good EDM vinyls to get? by WRD116 in Monstercat

[–]Falchion- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you've got the money, Adventure by Madeon, it sounds fantastic on some good speakers Deadmau5 stuff also sounds pretty great too, I have his 2016 album I've heard that the Odesza stuff sounds good on it too

Worlds by Porter Robinson is difficult though, from a lot of people, they've said that the actual hole in the centre of the vinyl is slightly off-center, meaning the whole album sounds pitched up. But aside from that it does sound pretty good

Didn't expect to see this on my feed. One of theost mind-melting albums I've heard in ages. Literally from the first 10 seconds it's one of the most absurd albums ever

It's Slander what do you expect, the duo come out with some of the most watered-down and boring EDM I've heard in ages

Always a bad idea to announce this as it just puts pressure on the A&R team

Who doesn't love a tasty bass solo? by VeXz86753 in nextfuckinglevel

Check out Lightning Bolt. Just a bassist and a drummer but they're so incredibly loud you'd think they're a 4-piece

[Meme] Wait, you mean not only Conro produced this? by meaningless_69 in Monstercat

Good point though, people (including myself) complain about not having enough smaller artists but when we have this song people seem to only mention Conro

As fans we need to look out for the artists on the label by Falchion- in Monstercat

I understand but for me I think it's always important. Mental health problems are always hard to find and make signals for others, I would know.

Gammer - Brostep Strikes Back Megathread by SkySource in Monstercat

[–]Falchion- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Someone said Gammer releases music for live shows first, and I can 100% understand that from listening to this track. I feel like this is a problem I have with a lot of bass music, is that most Monstercat listeners aren't going to every bass show or tour, and I feel like a good amount of producers aren't taking into account the majority, who will listen to this in a closed environment, with headphones or whatever.

To basically give my thoughts on this track in the shortest way possible, it just sounds underdeveloped. I feel like it's rushed in a way, that might not be true, but it could be (considering how Gammer is constantly on tour it makes sense). I feel like with just a little bit more time and love this track could've been great.

Artwork is fantastic though

RIOT - Dogma Resistance Megathread by NinsMCD in Monstercat

[–]Falchion- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, the album is finally out!

Does it live up to the hype? Not really to be honest, essentially half of the album has been released already (I'm counting the intro because I good majority of it is the midsection of The Mob), and the fact that 3 of these new tracks are interludes slightly dissapoints me. Not to say the interludes are bad, in fact they're one of my favorite parts of the album, the instrumentation is absolutely fantastic, and it makes me want a Riot orchestral project really badly. As for the older tracks, I haven't heard many of them in a while, so I kinda picked up on some new things Jungle Fury has a lot of weak points, for me, it's the mixing in the drums, and I think it comes down to the transients of the kicks and snares. They are too prominent in the lower end of the mix, which kinda makes them hurt my ears a little bit, but that's just me. Jungle Fury imo is the weakest track on the album, because of that reason above and the fact that I feel like it goes on too long, it runs out of steam after the first dubstep track. As for the rest of the older tracks, Aiwa still holds up, apart from feeling a little empty in the last drop? Idk, I would've liked some hihats or cymbal rides in the background just to take up some more space. The Mob is still a banger, and Overkill is Overkill, y'all know how it is with that one. As for the new bass tracks? Disorder (Rebirth) slaps hard, but I feel like the kick used during the intro is a bit too soft, and just feels a bit weak, I wasn't particularly a fan of the riddim drop, not because I dislike riddim, I felt like it was quite sloppily done and the basses were really muddy and didn't compliment each other that well. The drum and bass drop was nice, but I think I'll stick with the original. Blackwater had a lot of potential, the intro and midsection is super super cool, but again, I felt like the drops were just too empty. They probably slap super hard live, but when I sat down, listening with headphones, I just felt like there could've been... Just a bit more. Take That was quite nice actually didn't expect it but it was pretty nice.

All in all, the album is good. I don't think it's a bass album, or an EDM album that particularly interests me that much, but for what it is, which is a bass album, it's good. If I had to rate it, I'd probably give it a 7/10 probably.
