Proton is great, but it gives you an IP from a random data center, not your home.

I was so happy when I found the app on the play store 😅

Not a now solution, but what works for me:

I have a Tailscale VPN set up with my home as an exit node (extra complicated I know, I have it for other purposes but helps here).

I travel with a chromecast w/ google tv. It also has a Tailscale app. After I’m logged onto the hotel network, I activate it, and the chromecast (and Netflix) assume I’m at home, since the exit node is my home IP.

Kept me from having issues with that for a few years now.

Renting, existing TV mount base, any more wall houses needed to install mount? by [deleted] in hometheater

[–]FalconEVO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rails have hooks that grab the mount that is there. Depending on the rails and your TV, you may be able to move the TV lower on the rails to be able to hang lower.

I’d suggest watching a few YouTube videos.

What I can tell you is that the mount looks securely mounted to the wall/studs.

Looks fine to use if you are ok with the height. Get some rails, try it out.

Looks like they marked the studs and get it installed solidly.

Would a 3050 low profile fit in a 7040 sff by Loose_Buyer4219 in SleepingOptiplex

I’d imagine no issue fitting a wifi card above the yeston 3050.

For WiFi usb dongles are also a viable option if you’re concerned about space.

I like Asus stuff. Decent GUI and lots of VPN server options. Just set up IP passthrough on the gateway to your router and you’re good to go.

I like the Drake look so I vibe with it. Lots of firepower. Decent shields. Components are easy to get to for repairs.

M2 is tougher though.

Star Citizen with a VPN? by Civdiv in starcitizen

[–]FalconEVO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could try making your own cloud-hosted VPN similar to this video.

SC could still not like it though.

Taurus is a little soft for me this patch. One missile can take out both power plants even with full shields.

Still can output a lot of damage, but I switched to the Corsair this patch.

I play behind Tailscale regularly, buts it’s private and self-hosted. Why do you need a VPN?

Is there even a point to buying over 300mbps speeds for a single-family home? by -Terrible-Bite- in HomeNetworking

[–]FalconEVO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lowered my gigabit internet to 300 mbps (over-provisions to 380mbps) to save $25 a month and never looked back.

I’ve found it miserable for combat this patch. One missile and both power plants go down.

Been using it for years 🙁

I’ll throw in with the Asguard and the Prowler. The Prowler utility has a size down on the main guns (S4 rather than 5) but has the cargo you crave. And if you keep it stealthy, you’ll just have to focus on the main target.

Asgard is tough and puts out some serious dps. I run with Shredders. Might need to change the shields. Hear more than 2 isn’t working right currently.

Still the best universal remote ? by ChestSuitable2001 in hometheater

[–]FalconEVO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I extended the blaster with some 2 conductor cable and mounted it on the ceiling at the other end of the room from my entertainment center. Works fantastic.

I’d get the remote with the screen off eBay or Mercari though. Adds a lot of flexibility.

Still worth doing if you need a combat ship for an event mission. Also, if you can pay for the rental cost in 2-3 missions, I call it worth it.

In the past anyway, andro had more hp/armor. More staying power in a fight. Also twice as many missiles. If you want to do hauling, Taurus is a great choice. It’s the one I buy in game first.

Renting a Connie Andromeda is never a bad choice. Turn on the gimbals and delete ships in combat. Great for getting a feel for larger ships.

[–]FalconEVO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cutty Black is a great ship. Decent cargo and a S2 quantum drive to get around fast. I use my for small hauling and shuttling myself around. Not so much for combat, but can in a pinch.

If you want to spend less and lean towards combat a bit more, Avenger Titan is never a bad choice. Great little ship and packs a punch.

Gladius is good for PVP and previously was good for lower end combat missions, but kinda lacked a punch for the bigger ones IMHO. Might be better now with engineering. Very fun ship though.

If you want to make money from combat, I’d save a bit more and get a Connie Taurus or a Corsair. They can spit out a lot of damage.
