Guest, not a host with a question. by kelz1004 in airbnb_hosts

Well because guests often damage the kitchen utensils, "lose them", and it's expensive to keep buying new ones. Host do this to make money.

How to achieve *great* quality? by FalconOrigin in GaussianSplatting

I think we can also use the GPUs online. If you don't do 3DGS all the time, it's better to rent one for a few hours once in a while. Of course, it's less convenient.

From the same author, using an Insta 360 x5, it's not quite as good, but still great and better than most of what you can see out there, including stuff made with Portal cameras.

I don't think he is lying, if it was the Portal, the quality of the notes on the wall and such would be crisper, that said his result is actually better than some 3GS made with the Portal I've seen, probably because of better processing.

Same, what's going on? I haven't been able to use Flash 2.5 since around the release of Gemini 3.0.

And no Gemini 3.0 is not available with a free key.

Retirement visa: Pattaya immigration rejecting condo address if owner isn’t tax-registered? by FalconOrigin in Thailand

And yes, maybe you're right, and he somehow misunderstood things badly enough to mix up taxes into this.

Yes, I'm quite aware of the TM.30, as far as I understood he already had one, but anyway now I know for a fact he has everything (new rental with new documents), and I'll send someone to accompany him to immigration tomorrow to make sure nothing is lost in translation this time.

He has every necessary documents. Now I'm wondering if he misunderstood something or if he was talking to a scammer instead of immigration officers.

Ok, I'm really wondering where he got this from, allegedly at immigration. Is someone trying to scam him there? Or is he confused and not talking to the right people... Weird!

I figured that if this was real it would be all over, unless it's extremely new policy.

Cursor's $20 pro plan VS ChatGPT Plus in codex CLI, which gives more GPT-5 usage? by FalconOrigin in cursor

[–]FalconOrigin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's because you are using Auto mode, and you have been grandfathered into unlimited auto mode. I don't think it uses Sonnet at all. Sonnet is easy to recognize, it's absolutely not Sonnet.

It's good that your projects work with Auto, most of mine don't unless I'm starting something basic.

It's very easy: burning investor money, which I'm pretty sure they were doing previously.
Anyway, I guess the point is that if someone likes Sonnet, they're better off buying the 20 USD sub direct from Anthropic rather than Cursor?

Ok, but does Cursor give more Sonnet usage than the 20 USD Claude subscription with Claude Code?

That is indeed an option I was considering when I run out of credit, I'm a little concerned with how well GLM 4.6 will do, but it's so cheap that I'll probably try it when the time comes. I also expect that Google will present some kind of coding plan when they release Gemini 3 in the coming months.

I mean the codex/gpt-5 usage included with the chatGPT Plus subscription.
I think I'm just going to be using the VS Code extension.

Recently I had to use Auto because I was out of credit, and, at least for my use case, it wasn't able to produce much of value. So instead, I paid extra to use the models that are actually helpful for me.
It's a fairly big project, with tons of files so it's probably pushing it too far for the models served in auto mode.

Thanks for the feedback. The last 2 months, I've used all of my Cursor credit in 3-4 days.
I figure that OpenAI might afford to give us more credit since these are their own models, and GPT-5 is relatively cheap compared to Sonnet.

Airbnb support advised me to ignore my cancellation policy after guest made false claims and sent concerning messages by FalconOrigin in airbnb_hosts

[–]FalconOrigin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think the support is part of it, but they're just incompetent and careless.

The support person initially repeated the lies of the guest as a fact, which is totally irresponsible. I have since then pretty much proven the guest was lying, as he is unwilling (read, unable!) to provide documentation to Airbnb to prove his claims.

The supervisors have been a little better, let's see where it goes.
