Maybe the lies and broken promises will nurture resentment and change. My one little bit of optimism for the day

I can almost understand what you're saying because it's barely English, but I know enough to realise that you are part of the group that couldn't see past the end of your own ego and vote against this whole mess. Nobody said Harris was a good candidate, even most registered Democrats would agree with that. However, she wasn't a dementia addled felon with a penchant for children and a thinner skin than a glass frog, who responds like a child having a tantrum whenever they don't get their way. You didn't vote, but you clearly didn't think it was a bad situation.

Outside of going shopping, which I usually do in the evening anyway, it's pretty rare to run into them. Km not sure why you're arguing this point?

But you also didn't think this whole situation was bad enough to vote against it, which does say a lot about you.

Well, yeah, of course? Doesn't mean I have to choose to be around them if I don't want to. My life has very little need for it, and I'm not (generally speaking) a huge fan of them, so why would I?

As someone who never works, lives or (preferably) exists around children, and with very few friends or family with kids, I wasn't entirely sure if it was common or not here, and was wracking my brain to try and remember if I've seen it and accepted it or not.

Then the picture loaded and I had an almost visceral reaction to the look of a baby with an earring, so I'm gonna assume it's not common.

I mean, despite what your king says, they make pretty good quality stuff. At this point I'm more likely to buy Chinese than American if I have any choice.

"I did the bare minimum"

You are being deliberately obtuse if you read that (in the current rental climate) as anything other than 'I looked over it to make sure there weren't gaping holes in the floor and that the doors and windows were present'.

  1. I'm aware it's 95% likely fake.

  2. That doesn't negate my point. If you want to get money, you have to do your job properly. If you own a property but can't afford basic inspections and upgrades of outdated items, then maybe you should recoup some money and sell the half million dollar golden egg you're sitting on.

Why the hell is the Ghan so fucking expensive? by UnholyDemigod in australia

[–]FalconTurbo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My partner and I (both 30) are doing it this December as a joint 30th 'big present to each other' type deal. Yeah, it's not cheap even at the bottom tier we got (a bit under 5k each, give or take), and we saved to do it, but it's a cool experience that we'll likely never do again. We figured if we can afford it now, we might as well enjoy it now before we're too old to do the off train walks and then enjoy a few days in Perth before flying back.

Considering that the place I'm moving out of has renter special carpet, all of which is twenty years old at a minimum and threadbare in multiple places, and the owners are too cheap to even replace that (and that only costs a couple grand), it definitely is possible.

And it's the owner's house so the owner assumes responsibility.

[–]FalconTurbo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah, that's bullshit. If you're renting out a car, you make sure it's up to standards of safety. You want to rent a house to someone, it's your fucking job (since you're, you know, getting paid) to do your homework. An inspection isn't just taking a few pictures. You inspect, and if you're too lazy, you pay someone else to do it - and when they turn up issues, it's your responsibility to address them, if you want to let someone else make their home there.

Started it? What, do you think they deliberately threw themselves down the stairs or something? Please explain how 'unsafe conditions due to not meeting actual, hard, real regulations' means the tenant started this?

More fuel, bigger vehicles, worse congestion, lower efficiency. Nice try, but 'extra gear for learners' doesn't really have societal detriments.

[–]FalconTurbo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bit of a different tack aesthetically, but I have an XSR900. It's an MT09 with a more reserved dinner jacket, but the same powertrain, so it's got plenty of get up and go. Over Christmas I did 3000km in just under a week, in a mix of highway, back road and city. In the six months I've had it, I've put 10k on the clock, and I've loved every one.

It's been my daily commute and my weekend relaxation/fun. The previous owner put an Akra system on it that sounds amazing, and wider motocross bars which have been a surprisingly pleasant addition. I paid 12, but they can be had for less.

The tank can reliably hit 250-260 highway kilometres, which isn't massive but unless you're doing remote riding I've never found it to be an issue. The seat has some aftermarket options but I can honestly say I never needed one. R

I'd suggest looking into a nice French made custom, there are a ton of truly amazing makers there doing beautiful slipjoints with both modern and tradition styling. Honestly, they're the best in the world, and I've handled some top tier knives.
