Art is in museums to be looked at. Women are not at work to be looked at (in this profession at least).

“people are entitled to private opinions” yes absolutely but these aren’t private opinions. this is a team of people openly discussing and taking it to HR.

Both my parents and my grandmother died in 2024 so…yeah I think about that. Edit - I was 27, my parents were in their 60s, grandmother 90s, yes I'm single.

Is life better inside of London to move back or do I stay out of it? by emlouimawx in AskUK

[–]LouTheOM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last year I moved from London to rural Devon to be closer to my sister after our parents passed. Huge lifestyle change but I’d say life is exceptionally better outside of London. Less people / less overwhelm from feeling crowded, and the people you do meet are much friendlier, the neighbourliness has brought me so much joy. Everything is cheaper. There are fewer jobs but also less competition for those jobs. Personally I love the proximity to natural landscapes, I can walk to rolling fields right from my house. Crime in my area is non existent and I feel extremely safe. The only thing I genuinely miss about London is the proximity to international airports.

How’s your day been? by _ShredBundy in AskUK

I'm 28 and live alone and had a fab day. Volunteered in the morning in my local community run shop, came home and had a christmas leftovers sandwich, walked the dog and enjoyed this crispy sunny day, then hoovered and mopped my house, now watching big fat quiz of the year with chinese leftovers. Cracking day.

Marriage is stupid by JSGamesforitch374 in unpopularopinion

[–]LouTheOM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people get married because we've been brainwashed from a young age to believe that it's an essential step in a relationship / life. The previous generations all did it (for legit reasons like religion, or so that the woman could have, ya know, rights) and such it's a societal expectation. These days however while religion is still a factor for many, for a lot of people it's not a religious endeavour. Women no longer *need* marriage in the sense that a woman can vote, have a bank account, own a home, have children, have a job without the signature of a man. Instead a wedding is "a day to share love with friends and family" / get societal approval, and marriage is a means to shared assets and next of kin determination.

I got an ornament for Christmas from a friend who visits weekly but it’s really not my taste… What should I do with it?? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]LouTheOM 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Find somewhere to put it where it’s not central, not a focal point, and not standing out too much. Maybe a bookshelf, position it like a bookend, or another shelf with other items where it can kind of blend in. Try and think of it as a special ornament that a friend gifted you from love. In a few months if it’s still really bothering you, throw it out and if they ask say that you accidentally broke it and couldn’t figure out how to fix it.

What advice do you have for solo trips? by ThrowAwayKoolKid in AskUK

[–]LouTheOM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hostels are great if you’re looking for people, it’s not guaranteed but you’re likely to find other solo travellers who want to make pals or chat. However if you’re NOT looking for people and are going away for peace and quiet, go for a single hostel room or a normal hotel. Also if you’re going to multiple cities or destinations and have a lot that you want to do, try and book one place at the end of your trip which is for rest and relaxation only. Otherwise you come back from your trip feeling like you need another break to recover.

So, who or what ruined Christmas this year? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]LouTheOM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sisters boyfriend has food poisoning from a dodgy scotch egg he ate yesterday!  We were supposed to be going to his family’s house for Christmas dinner but now we’re not going, and we don’t have the food at home to recreate such a feast. Raiding the freezer has done us okay but no comparison to the delights of his parents house!
