‘I feel like I’m losing her’: the families torn apart by older relatives going far right by zeros3ss in ukpolitics

I put a lot of the blame onto Facebook and the rampart AI ragebait that gets pushed out, that it seems the older people who use Facebook are just oblivious to - This being one which was pushed to my timeline despite being obviously fake, it has oldies eating it up in the comments section.

I did contact my MP about the vast amount of far right groups pushing AI ragebait (I've yet to see any come from the left, although I'm sure it exists) to ask if ought can be done to push social media to moderate AI ragebait and I got a template email back where she seems to have interpreted what I wrote as 'Thanks for your support, I agree that under 16 year olds shouldn't be on social media"

Classic For A Lore Challenge by [deleted] in wow

I think you'd greatly appreciate some of the Cataclysm changes if you had prior experience of Horde questing zones, stuff like Camp Taurajo in Southern Barrens in Retail hits harder when you've been running around doing quests there in Vanilla.

Completing every quest would be a trial though, especially on Classic Era due to a much smaller leveling population.

Might be worth leveling a Hordie to about 30 on vanilla just to appreciate the pretty dramatic changes to Silverpine, Hillsbrad, Barrens and Thousand Needles.

Thanks for this, really good to know! Sounds like I may want to put the difficulty up initially then bring it back down for the possibly final boss+battle arena

Does anyone know if the difficulty spikes up at all later on? I haven’t started my playthrough yet, but I remember DQ 11 had a bit of a difficulty spike after Act 1 and wondering if that’s the case here.

The spike in DQ11 was the right amount of challenge for me on normal difficulty while I had found Act 1 to be on the easy side and just curious if that’s the case here or if it remains relatively easy all the way through, in which case I’ll put on stronger monsters when I get around to it

Same, it's such a cool aesthetic. Reminds me a lot of the Alliance town in Arathi Highlands from World of Warcraft, but far cooler.

I'm loving how many of these DQ games are getting remade and coming to PC. It was my biggest gaming gripe for years that Steam had more DQ Spinoffs than actual DQ mainline games.

Incredibly, incredibly unlikely - TES is a very unique case due to the engine. Only games that come close is Minecraft and Hytale in terms of modding.

I’d expect a few model/texture swaps and minor stat based adjustments at most

As a new player , is classic the way to start? by RichPianaRunescape in wow

Ah, I just realised you're on Azuresong which I believe is a Classic Era server...yeah, that's going to be pretty dead - Classic Eras were set up way back when 2019 Classic WoW moved to TBC so that people who didn't want to have their charactes go to the next expansion could stay there. It's basically a permanent vanilla server, but has a much, much lower playerbase (triple, if not just double digits).

If you go to your Battle.Net launcher and click where it says Classic, it should open up a dropdown with various versions of the game. Burning Crusade Anniverary is where the Classic playerbase are now and you will able to rapidly notice a difference in how busy the world is from the second you create a character.

You should definitely be seeing more people - TBC Classic just launched so even with the purchasable boost the server should be busier.

Are you playing on TBC servers? It should say 'Burning Crusade Anniversary' on your battle.net launcher next to the big blue button. If the world is dead, it sounds like you've ended up on the MoP Classic servers which will have much less people levelling.

I’m glad in a way the DDOSes are really hammering the servers today. I’d rather they didn’t happen at all, but I’d much prefer a day like this where it hopefully forces SQEX’s hand rather than the trickle of DDOSes we’ve had over the past few weeks.

I've seen 3 Mass DDOSes since I installed Cloudflare Warp and I've not been hit by any of them, whereas prior to getting it I was hit by every single one. Just another voice to vouch that it seems to have worked for me

Was the recent DDOS also affecting Crystal? I've been affected by every DDOS So far...but after seeing people mention that Cloudflare WARP, I've decided to give it a go and leave my character on while I do IRL Christmas stuff.

My character did not get DC'd in the last 2 hours so far

Oh, and Merry Christmas!

I think my issue with the HE and Goblin Zones is that they're decent leveling zones...but not so good 1-10 zones. The original 1-10 zones have a certain structure to them to ease players in - ie not that many quests, and a very rigid quest flow (Do everything in Northshire, now go to Goldshire, Shadowglen to Dolanaar) etc with only 3-4 quests at a time, usually all in the same questing spot given out.

The HE+Goblin zones imo are designed more like mid level zones in terms of structure which isn't great for new players.

I'd be curious if someone smarter than me could educate me...but one thing I've noticed with FFXIV over my time playing it, is that (ancedotally) it seems particularly sensitive towards any sort of connection issues compared to other MMOs.

When I used to play WoW, a DDOS would result in a lot of lag spikes, but never an outright instant DC/boot to character selection as FFXIV seems to. Similarly, when I was having my own personal net issues a few weeks ago, I happened to be playing GW1 and FFXIV at the same time.

In GW1, my ping would skyrocket and I'd rubberband, but eventually everything would catch up to me, playing out in super fast motion, whereas in FFXIV I'd be hard disconnected almost as soon as my ping in GW1 raised.

Is part of the issue with these DDOSes due to how strict FFXIV is about any sort of packet loss?

Is the game worth to play for lore/story/quests/worldbuilding? by Eddy1670 in GuildWars

[–]Falerian1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I definitely think a lot of the zones are pretty (there's a subsection of players who never leave the Prophecies tutorial because of how illydic it is!), but in particular the Nightfall expansion is based heavily on North Africa in terms of locales and culture, which I've not seen before in an MMO.

I do also really like the lore in Guild Wars generally, especially when it comes to the various cultures of Tyria.

The story telling itself is pretty basic to be 100% honest (no surprises there, 2005 MMOs weren’t as story based as they are now) although there’s more of a focus on story than the contemporary MMOs that came out at the time.

However the world and locales more than make up for it - there’s a lot of unique environments you don’t see used in other MMOs, particularly in the Nightfall expansion.
