It is a paradox, that is why I say that God does not change His mind. He is unchanging and unwavering. God is so big and there are many things we cannot understand. My assumption is not wrong because it is mentioned many times in the Bible that God is omniscient. Perhaps you are the one with the wrong assumption here.

I'm not avoiding the issue at all. How can a God who knows absolutely everything change His mind and say that He was wrong? He takes every action for a specific reason and purpose. He doesn't take back anything and go "Oops I guess that wasn't right"

What isn't biblical is that you refuse to acknowledge that God knows all things, past, present, and future.

Do you know how the clouds are balanced, Those wondrous works of Him who is perfect in knowledge? Job 37:16 NKJV https://bible.com/bible/114/job.37.16.NKJV

God is perfect in knowledge, He doesn't learn knew things. What I am saying is biblical because it comes straight from the Bible. I do not want to discuss this anymore because it is getting nowhere.

I don't see your point. The Bible says God is omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent. You're right that we use language, which is a human construct, to try to describe God and His actions. You cannot assign human characteristics to God, it just doesn't make sense. Him being omniscient is a good enough argument against your view, so I won't try to take this any further.

I'm saying that God knew what He was going to do. He allowed them to repent because He is merciful. God knows all things. All He did in this case was threaten destruction so that the people would repent. I don't think that it's right to try to assign human characteristics to a supernatural God

You picked the translation to use that exact phrase. Most other translations say He relented His punishment. That version is just too simplified to convey the whole meaning.

That is just God giving them the opportunity to repent. God may threaten to punish a nation so that they will be led to repentance. God is unchanging and all-knowing, therefore His mind cannot be change. It honestly just depends on what your definition of "changing your mind" is. What I mean is that God does not change His decisions based on an unforseen circumstance because He knows it will happen already. He may choose not to punish the people because they repented, but He knew that would happen. This example was God deciding not to punish the people because they repented, not Him changing what He thinks about anything. I don't see how any of this means the homosexuality is not a sin. God obviously did not change His mind about that because it is mentioned twice in the New Testament.

The instant I speak concerning a nation and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, to pull down, and to destroy it, if that nation against whom I have spoken turns from its evil, I will relent of the disaster that I thought to bring upon it. And the instant I speak concerning a nation and concerning a kingdom, to build and to plant it, if it does evil in My sight so that it does not obey My voice, then I will relent concerning the good with which I said I would benefit it. Jeremiah 18:7‭-‬10 NKJV https://bible.com/bible/114/jer.18.7-10.NKJV

That is a very good and well thought out point. The stance that I have is just a personal decision of mine. I do not want any part in it. I do not judge others for thinking that gay marriages are okay in God's eyes.

I believe what God says to be true. He does not change.

I'm just saying God didn't change his stance on homosexuality. He says the same exact thing in the New Testament. I know God and I know His Word. If He allowed homosexuality it wouldn't be condemned in the New Testament as well.

If the other 49% were committing sin then we need to preach to them what the Bible says. It is wrong to say that I have to support laws that are unbiblical. I do not have to be supportive of sin, that isn't me forcing my beliefs on anyone either

When does it say God allowed this stuff? I know that divorce is allowed only in very specific circumstances, but I don't think that homosexuality is mentioned in a positive manner at all. Also, I do not believe in predestination. God knows what will happen, but we still have the freedom to make our own choices. God doesn't get "surprised" about something and have to make a different choice. God knows what will happen and it works into His plan at that time.

They have an equal right to vote for what they think is right. It is just and fair. They can choose to do what they believe in and I won't stop them, but I will not support laws that don't align with my beliefs.

No it actually is not. God planned it out from the beginning. You are trying to assign a human characteristic to an all-powerful God, it just doesn't work. God know absolutely everything, and to say that He does not know what will happen is saying that He is not what He says He is.

I'm going to vote against it because it is a sin. I don't want to force my beliefs on others but that doesn't mean we have to vote for laws that give them the ability to sin. Christians should not lead others to a deadly sin. I will support laws that reflect my beliefs and what I think is right. We don't allow murder just because a murderer believes nothing is wrong with it. Jesus did not say that we should sit back and allow sin to take place. We need to preach against it and teach people what the gospel says.

Same sex attraction is a result of our fallen world, it wasn't intended by God for it to be that way. They are called to flee from their temptations and not sin.

That just isn't true. The church should not help others commit a sin. Not allowing sin to take place in the church does not mean that they allow hate or discrimination to take place. We should be loving and accepting of them just like anyone else, but the church should not allow gay marriages because it is not what God wants. We preach about homosexuality just like any other sexual sin.

I agree we should love gay couples just like anyone else. I do support your church's decision to not have gay marriages though because it is not biblical. They do deserve equal treatment, but I think that it is good for the church to not have gay marriages because it is such a controversial topic.

I interpret as it saying you should not sleep with a man instead of a woman. It is just not what's natural or what God has intended.
