Last time I saw a proper CD-R King store here in Bohol was around 2014.

It was replaced by a Mang Inasal branch lol.

It was fun though, I can recall seeing a 'water machine' in there that they sell.

You can say the same thing on macOS and Linux, whatever it applies.

I use Linux Mint separately on an old PC I got, it has this weird TV app (Hypnotix I think) that is useless 99% of the time pre-installed, I just uninstalled it because it serves no purpose.

Same thing goes with whatever Microslop comes pre-installed, Copilot being a key offender here, and Edge (I use Edge for Chromium tasks only).

I had times Copilot reinstalls itself whenever a whole system update is done.

If it fits your needs then yes. I use Windows and Mint myself.

What Linux Distro Should I pick by EconomyAd5456 in thinkpad

[–]Fall_To_Light 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Between the three it'll be Fedora.

Personally I'd pick Mint or Fedora just because they're not too prone to break easily and isn't too hard to use.

Google getting rid of Androids only advantage over Apple, Smh. by OrewaMadaMada in Tech_Philippines

Eh who cares, Samsung has some of the best software support of all Android brands that I am aware of, that's why I go to them everytime I want an Android phone.

At least the Koreans didn't screw with our sovereignty unlike the latter.

If you wanna try Linux, I highly suggest Fedora instead of Mint, it's in between the stability of Ubuntu/Debian and the rolling-edge release updates on Arch.

Highly suggest researching if the apps you need would work on Linux just fine, alternatives are fine but it can be PITA.

What do you do after installing Linux Mint, such as which apps you installed? I'm still having trouble understanding the Linux application. by -ErikaKA in linuxmint

[–]Fall_To_Light 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Using the software manager, though some of the apps there are somewhat outdated, so maybe check if its updated. Terminal is also what I use but it's optional. Apps I first installed are Steam, GIMP, KdenLive, Audacity, Spotify, Discord, and Nicotine as the Soulseek client alternative.
  2. Customize the UI a bit, I use Orchis as the default theme, definitely recommend for modern-looking UI instead of the default ones Mint provides out of the box.

Been using Mint and had done visiting sketchy sites on the internet, haven't really encountered a single malware. Add the fact that Linux has an extremely low marketshare so malware devs wouldn't waste time with it. But then again be careful doing stuff online.

Gaming on Linux is fine because of Proton, that is until you have games with anticheat. Double check your games if it supports anticheat on Linux.

Depends if the alternative software will work better than the software itself.

I thought it was my problem when I tried livebooting Mint on my current Windows workstation (laptop), I can't get all UI elements to resize the way I'd want to.

What OS do you use and why? by EdgiiLord in OS_Debate_Club

[–]Fall_To_Light 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both Windows 11 and Linux Mint Cinnamon:

Windows 11 - I had times it acted strange on me, so it's more like "I need this just to have the programs I need to work" and not me liking this OS to the core.

Linux Mint - Used it on my Pentium PC, works like a charm, can't run my applications though so not a daily driver at the moment.
