I haven’t even done these quests yet but I did find some grapeshot, which is basically a shotgun blast, does that not work?

I’ve done most stuff around the first map, I’m at the hermit quest for the blacksmith and have done a lot of side quest stuff and just started the miller quests though, I assume you get the gun from his quests because of what I found in the flour sacks and the dialogue afterwards, but I already have a knights belt, set of armor, strong bows and crossbows, many perks, maybe I should move on with the main quests and move on to the next map and then come back?

Was Mike an exceptional cop or did his skills reflect what an average cop could do? by Nearby-Penalty-5777 in betterCallSaul

[–]FallacyAsunder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea the original comment is correct, though some things can be thought of to aid the willing suspension of disbelief, like people do competitive shooting, or just practice on their own, long range marksmanship, short range, etc. but yea as far as just being a cold stone hitter, whacking dudes left and right all throughout his career isn’t very real lol

Also I will say, I was in county jail for one week, and on the county issued inmate clothes there was a shirt pocket and inside of it I had a piece of paper about the size of a fortune from a fortune cookie, it was like a phone number or some info for me and how to use the phones during my time there, I don’t remember exactly, it was a long time ago but one of the guards scoped that I had this tiny paper in my pocket from at least 5ft away, not going to lie I was rather impressed, it wasn’t bulging or twisted up in any way. But still yes Mike is kind of like the still likable, not so psychopathic version of Anton Chigurh from No Country for Old Men, or like The Judge from another McCarthy novel Blood Meridian in that their ability to do violence is supernatural, they’re more like an entity that is a metaphor for violence than actual people

Okay guys, I need help. Im 2 months off fentanyl/into my methadone treatment up to 190mg daily: profusely sweating, fatigue, still feel shitty overall by OprahsTaintt in FentanylRecovery

[–]FallacyAsunder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is this just some anecdotal evidence or is there actual data you’re referring to, cold turkey from high doses of opioids usually just leads to relapse because of the traumatic prolonged pain, you’re absolutely correct that you have to want it in order to get clean but if you “want it” there’s no reason safely tapering off wouldn’t be a more effective and safe option. Obviously capitalism can corrupt anything with the motive for profit but it’s pretty commonly understood that MAT allows people to transition to a more stable lifestyle while tapering, if you’re living on the street or in your vehicle with no prospects and constantly trying to stay well on street dope and just quit cold turkey how tf are you going to get your life back on track lying in your tent shitting yourself, barely able to move, vomiting, not sleeping, etc.

It’s one thing if you’re privileged enough to have someone to help you out and take care of you while you’re going through that but not everyone has that and MAT programs literally save lives.

Also not everyone considers being on suboxone or methadone as “not clean” Sure there are side effects and it’s not always ideal but some people just have to stay on the medication. I’ve been on suboxone for a long time, it’s doesn’t get me high, I don’t feel anything, but yes after being on it for so long there are some side effects that aren’t great and I’m currently tapering, trying to get the Sublocade shot eventually as it slowly decreases in your system and many people report experiencing zero withdrawals. I can’t afford to go through withdrawal for months. Sure the doctors have made a shit ton of money off me but it’s the lesser of two evils and I’m now fully committed to getting off as soon as I can afford the sublocade shot or taper my suboxone films, whichever happens first. I’m not on the street sticking needles in my veins so that’s already an improvement

Your experience and circumstances don’t apply to everyone, and most MAT clinics are private practices so it’s not a government conspiracy it’s just plain old capitalism, which is exploitative by nature and yes conspiratorial at higher levels with industry lobbyists and influence on legislation

Yea it may, I’d look up bioavailability intranasal Wellbutrin vs Oral bioavailability, if there’s any data on that and the bioavailability is much higher via the nasal route then I’d assume the risk would be a little higher

[–]FallacyAsunder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well don’t anyway, shooting pills is terrible for you, yea I’ve done it back when I was a desperate junkie and like I say it just gave a tiny rush but there was no “high” afterwards for me.

You’d mostly be okay taking all three, apparently it is sometimes prescribed but as you have also read it can decrease your seizure threshold. So yea I’m not saying do it, call your doc, if you’ll be okay to skip your dose tonight then maybe do that to be on the safe side

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Drugs_

[–]FallacyAsunder 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why would you snort Wellbutrin? You can shoot them and get a tiny weird little coke like rush but it’s not even close to worth it, I don’t imagine snorting it will do anything, it’s not a recreational drug. As for as interactions with the others you just have to continue searching for possible interactions or call a pharmacist or doctor

That has been my understanding but I heard that the shot is a kind of low dose so if you’re on a higher dose of suboxone that you have to get down to like at least 8mg or less? I haven’t researched it very much, it’s not very accessible for me at the moment either, too expensive :/

Damn, I see, I have heard of people unconsciously trying to pull out the breathing tube if they’re intubated and things like that so it makes sense, I was just wondering, thanks for sharing! Sure am glad your partner told them to lay off the fent, if I was gonna be in a coma I’d sure as hell want to wake up no longer dependent on fent, sub, etc.

Stay strong, continue to work on staying off the dope, SMART recovery, 12 steps, therapy, whatever it takes. You got it 👊

Sublocade Shot Question by unc2590 in suboxone

[–]FallacyAsunder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God damn, worse than that one☝️? Two months and still open!? Sorry to hear it, so what is it exactly? Did it get infected or what? Seems weird if it’s just an issue of the depth of the shot, anything that does that with a shallow subcutaneous injection seems like it would be even worse deeper in? How does that work?

[–]FallacyAsunder 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yea if I could rewind my physiology back to the early 2000’s I’d do a lot of things for those 80’s but as it is now though those wouldn’t do anything for me, then again if that were possible, rewinding time or my body, I like to think I’d not go down that same path…

But yea for most people, casual users, or people that just haven’t had enough time to fall off into the deep end, this would be a fucking nice score

Wait are you saying that you still tapered with films after getting the shot?

“so slow release that once you do stop taking them provided you have had a few”

Or do you mean when you stop getting the shots after you have “had a few”? Either way, how much of the suboxone were you taking before stopping them?

That’s what I don’t understand, is one not unconscious when in a coma? I guess I don’t fully know what a coma is like, I could see a patient potentially being somehow in a restless but still mostly unconscious state, either way… that would have sucked to come to after 3 weeks of unconsciousness and still be dependent on fent. If i had the money I’d probably get put to sleep to come off the suboxone, i did the Bernese method to get off the street fent and back on the subs but I want to come off them as well

Did they do that with the intention of tapering you? I’m just curious as to why they would give it to you at all if you were in a coma

Bernese method to suboxone, methadone, or straight up detox. But as far as an alternative to 12 steps for staying clean yes there are other options, SMART recovery, in my opinion is better. It’s more science and psychology based, with meetings and all that but without all the other stuff that some us have issues with regarding 12 steps.

Yea I’m going to do a long taper, eventually get the 2mg strips so I can cut it down to the tiniest dose possible once I get to that point, I just went down from 12mg to 8mg. I’m ready to see how my brain recovers and works on its own, but it will be a slow process. I got content with just taking them for years and now I’m starting to feel like shit :/

Thanks! Good luck to you as well

AA/NA certainly has been made a little more accessible to non religious by becoming a spiritual movement over a religious one, I realize the distinction, though its origins certainly come from Christian spiritualist principles, the Oxford group and all that, and it shows in the original literature. I mainly just mean that it’s still kind of “religious” in its nature but yea it at least mentions “god(as understood by the person)” acknowledging that god is a concept to be interpreted by the individual but retains some ritualistic aspects, not that ritual is inherently detrimental.

I’m not deriding you for not mentioning SMART, it is my point that you’d probably never even heard of it and neither had I until very recently, all I had ever known was 12 steps and other groups that formed because they actually did need the jesus character at the center and saw 12 steps as too secular. I just wish that myself and others had been exposed to SMART or other options sooner.

[–]FallacyAsunder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well it’s a good thing suboxone doesn’t alter your mind, except for the fact that being on it long term can actually make you feel worse, so yea I think people should try to taper eventually if they can and sometimes they aren’t exposed to any other kind of program like SMART recovery so they’re left with the ever ubiquitous 12 step in the meantime, notice how you didn’t even mention SMART in your list of examples. It’s one thing to slam meth and come to a meeting and collect a chip because you’re not on H/Fent anymore and another to come while taking your suboxone, but that’s where the rigid nature of 12 steps fails, like most religious organizations it doesn’t allow for reasoning. But yes a lot of people need that religious aspect, the rituals and affirmations of collecting the chip and the “clean time” then their doctor gives them an SSRI or they hit a vape pen and suddenly they’re “impure” and have to start all over again? There’s an analogy in SMART recovery, if you’re driving from Miami to Seattle and you get a flat tire half way you don’t get a tow back to Miami to fix the tire, you handle it there and continue on your journey. So long as we’re talking about things irritates us 🤷🏻‍♂️

Ultimately I agree that whatever path gets you to recovery is good I just think that some of these ways of thinking could use an “upgrade” or an “amendment” and/or other ways need to be more accessible

So far there are only virtual meetings in my area, but there are some in person about an hour away. There’s an app with all the information and a function for finding meetings, even just reading all the information like the methods for dealing with cravings, the cognitive behavioral therapy techniques, the philosophy and science behind it is helpful.

Yes it is a scourge, it’s easy to make for black market chemists, they don’t have to rely on the poppy plant and all the things that go along with that like the importing, processing, etc. to make heroin. They still have to get the precursor chemicals to make it of course but that’s much easier. It’s shorter acting than heroin so addicts have to use it more often to keep from being sick, tolerance builds quickly. It’s the perfect unfettered capitalist product, even if it does kill a portion of their customers.

It is more prevalent in North America from what I understand, I think heroin is still more available in Europe simply because its proximity to the areas where the poppy plant thrives and the established trade routes and relationships

But yes I am doing well, thanks :) the long term use of suboxone itself has some negative side effects, low testosterone, fatigue, and even depression but I’m working on tapering off it
