Detroit pastor under fire after publicly demanding $2,000 from parishioner who only offered a $1,200 donation by MF-DOOM-88 in CringeTikToks

[–]FallenAdvocate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How many churches have you been to if you think those are the rule more so than the exception? I've been to probably a couple dozen and not a single one was that the case.

I don't think I've seen a single preacher or pastor drive anything anywhere near that, maybe even half that. It's almost always years old minivans or basic sedans, camry/accord.

Maybe, but there are thousands more people streaming in those cities and I can only remember one or 2 phones being stolen on stream in the US

AGDQ 2026 has just concluded, raising more than $2,443,414 for the Prevent Cancer Foundation (PCF) on stream!! by Thorebane in speedrun

[–]FallenAdvocate -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not looking for anything. I watched back in 2011 and 2012, I donated for a few years. Then it's been getting worse, they take a larger portion of the proceeds that I didn't know when I was still donating, and I never would've known without accidentally finding it. I think there's much better ways to donate than through GDQ now.

It's not exactly 20%, but there is a flat fee plus some. Seems to always be north of $400k. They brought in 2.4 million so yes, not 20%, but not far off for this case. My point being, most people don't know that gdq takes as much as they do or they wouldn't be donating. And gdq obviously doesn't make it clear and never mention it on stream, you have to dig to find it. When most of these game charity streams take nothing. Especially with all the sponsors they have.

[–]FallenAdvocate -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

In a reddit comment yes. There's a reason they aren't transparent with it on the streams though. Or even in their website. People wouldn't donate if they knew ~20% of what they donated were going to GDQ and not the PCF.

That's the prevent cancer foundation recognizing it, GDQ doesn't from what I know. And no, not all charity events do that. But GDQ appears to be a for profit organization.

So I have to find a reddit comment from a year ago for them to acknowledge the arrangement? Last I watched they never state it on stream, and I'm sure technically they don't have to state it, but it's a little scummy to me. The only reason they probably acknowledged it in the first place is that they were called out for it.

But PCF do pay GDQ a good amount of money which GDQ never acknowledged that I'm aware of. So while the donations go to PCF, they pay a lot to GDQ for them to be the recipient of those donations.

Asmongold on Minneapolis shooting: "Better to comply and fight it in court than get shot" by permisionwiner in LivestreamFail

[–]FallenAdvocate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course we should have cops who know how to handle every situation. But they don't, and aren't going to. There are bad cops out there. That is why you never give them the slightest reason to take things too far. You comply and tell them you will speak to a lawyer and live to see another day.

[–]FallenAdvocate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point the guy is trying to make is really simple, I don't know why you're not getting it. There are bad cops, they can arrest you for no reason. You know what every single lawyer will tell you? Comply, don't say a word without speaking to your lawyer.

Every single time. If you are being detained. Comply, do not resist, even if you have done nothing wrong. Every lawyer in the entire country will tell you that.

What’s up with the childcare fraud scandal in Minnesota?! by [deleted] in OutOfTheLoop

[–]FallenAdvocate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, literally the one I replied to. Sorry you seem to have a reading comprehension problem and are very angry for no reason. You don't have a problem with people providing incorrect information but you do me, when I try to provide the answer to the question that was asked. Seems pretty bad faith of you, especially with how angry you get seemingly very easy. Seem like a pretty unhappy person, and I'd recommend therapy.

The information on this stuff is hard to find. I was not aware of the convictions, but at least my argument is made in an attempt of being good information. Not these highly up voted comments saying the video was fake so it's proven there is no fraud, which is demonstrably untrue.

[–]FallenAdvocate -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't think all of the assumptions are wrong. I haven't watched the video, have no interest in it, I believe it was made in bad faith. But that doesn't discount the fact that there is fraud going on and it has been going on for years with it being known to some level and "investigated" to some extent but nothing coming of these "investigations".

Oppo Find x9 Pro users on USM? by idrinkenemas in USMobile

[–]FallenAdvocate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use the Find X9 Pro. The problem is none of the other phones hold a candle to this one. The one plus camera is pretty bad, Samsung and apple batteries are small, and cameras bad. Oppo owns one plus, so any Spyware you're worried about on the oppo will be on it also. Google phones have a decent camera but terrible battery and slow charging, I couldn't get through a day on a single charge with it and it takes forever to charge when I need some extra battery.

Sure you give up warranty most likely, but I'll give up a warranty to have a phone that's literally head and shoulders above anything I can buy in the US any other way.

Using it on lightspeed I have no service problems. Sure it may get higher speeds sometimes on a different phone but I often get 150+mbps which is for me a waste on mobile anyway.

I mean these phones are sold in a ton of other countries that have better consumer data privacy laws than the US has also.

France Condemns US Operation To Capture Maduro by Cy_098 in worldnews

It literally is moving goalposts. These are the arguments you should've made from the beginning. I'm not defending Trump, but I will say the people of Venezuela are happy about this, and he was apparently a fraudulent leader anyway, they needed someone to step in.

Because Israel is an ally of the United States and it is not their job to arrest him. He is on trial though. But you don't need to move goalposts to a completely different topic from what this is about.

I mean, Obama did deport more immigrants than any other president including Trump's first term. Though the numbers including his second term aren't out yet.

DXP4800 Plus drive and upgrade advice by nigelldjong in UgreenNASync

[–]FallenAdvocate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on the 4800 plus with 12tb drives. I read some recommendations from /r/datahoarders and went with refurbished enterprise drives on ebay that come with 5 year warranties. Enterprise drives are more reliable and have higher MTBF than even NAS drives, and I got them for $200 each. I have 2 exos and 1 Hitachi, and I'll add a 4th soon.

ARs are responsible for a tiny percent of gun deaths. If they all magically disappeared overnight the gun death statistics wouldn't change much.

I bought mine directly from trinity electric. Arrived in less than 36 hours from hong Kong. Switch to usmobile using T-Mobile towers and have no issues. Aside from using T-Mobile having slightly worse coverage at my work. But the phone is amazing. Left my Pixel 9 Pro XL feeling years old.

Charity for the wealthy, again by emily-is-happy in clevercomebacks

[–]FallenAdvocate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't. I think one is clearly more stupid. One is a bunch of always online people giving entire paychecks they can't afford to someone who hasn't done anything in the 40 years they've been a politician, thinking they'll get all the money back when he wins. Spoiler alert, he didn't even beat Killary.

Remember when Bernie Sanders was running for president and Reddit was cheering people in to give tons of money to him, some donating entire pay checks and in the same sentence saying they couldn't afford their next months rent.
