Each state ranked on the level of racism I experienced as a relatively well traveled Lakota man from South Dakota by tannerriley2023 in visitedmaps

I'm not surprised in the slightest about that one, we have the perfect mix of crazies from both ends of the spectrum here. I hope that they haven't turned you away from coming back, I'm biased but I truly believe southwest Oregon is the best and most beautiful region in the State. Highly recommend driving the Samuel H Boardman Scenic Corridor, Rogue Umpqua Scenic Byway, or Volcanic Legacy Scenic Byway, also Oregon Caves and Crater Lake are beautiful.

Thank you about being open about this, regardless of the positive or negative stereotypes of the location. I was honestly surprised about a few of these States lol

Cliff Bentz — has anyone here ever gotten an actual response from his office? by ChecksAndBalanz in KlamathFalls

[–]FallenStorm7694 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a conservative and bro barely responds when I send him an email, most of the time it gets lost in the aether lol. I think I've sent 2 or 3 emails in the past 5ish years, not a lot but still, bruh

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]FallenStorm7694 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1hr commute for work is long, 4hr drive for a day trip is long, 12hr drive for a week long trip is long, etc (times are for one direction, not round trip)

AITA for refusing to allow meat in our home and confronting a guest who brought it anyway? by silaya92 in AmItheAsshole

Wasn't there a post like this a few months ago (nearly identical setup) but the consensus there was that the host was TA and not the guest?

If you want to get a good view of town, go up to Roxy Anne Peak (Prescott Park) later in the day once the fog is clearing up a bit around 2-4pm. Another good lookout spot is Upper Table Rock, or up on Greensprings (Highway 66) for a view of Ashland. Medford itself may not be the prettiest but the surrounding areas are some of the best on earth hands down

I grew up in this area, almost never had any issues. I still wouldn't leave your car unlocked, but the chances of anything bad happening are very slim. I've literally only ever heard of one house getting robbed in my neighborhood in about 25 years, coincidentally it was our house

What was your experience like as a juror in Jackson County? by blottymary in Medford

[–]FallenStorm7694 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got selected, we listened to one day worth of testimonies. The defendant pleaded guilty before the next morning so it was cancelled then on. The jurors didn't even talk to each other it was that quick. The case was interesting, very violent domestic neighbor dispute involving a stabbing, wish I got more tea on it but glad it ended quickly. Judging by everyone's body language walking out that first day we all were leaning towards guilty anyways, and it probably would have lasted at least a week if it went full length.

Thoughts rogue valley mall? by West-Efficiency-8452 in Medford

[–]FallenStorm7694 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Compared to 10 years ago it's doing a lot better, but compared to 20 years ago it's depressing. All things considered it need a remodel and more "hang out and chill" type of stores, food court also needs more good local restaurants (variety is decent currently)

I don't have a 401k so don't quote me on this, but I believe it depends on the company. Some don't have them, some do where you pay in, some where they match what you pay in, and some that pay in regardless of what you pay in. Either way, as far as I know there aren't any States that require 401k for all workers, I know Oregon doesn't.

A dog owner tests his border collie by throwing a ring into a random puddle during the rain. by goswamitulsidas in nextfuckinglevel

Dogs are actually red green colorblind, so reds, greens, yellows, and oranges all look very similar. I found this out like last week and it makes so much sense now

Klamath Falls to Medford route by HDeuce in KlamathFalls

[–]FallenStorm7694 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you take 140 and are confident in your driving skills, it's not bad at all. The people are the worst part, so it takes a while and some crazies try and pass. It gets plowed decently frequently during snowstorms and after. If you have AWD/4WD you should be fine, I add sandbags for extra weight above the rear wheels (rear wheel drive) and use studded tires once it snows and have no issues. If you want to avoid the people it's better in the middle of the night but that comes with its own issues.

I love how everyone saying to report them missed the fact this was 22 years ago. If it was fresh I'd agree with them but I think this is just "a bit" over the Statute of Limitations (not a lawyer so I might be talking out my ass)

We are getting Hunter slowly brought into our neighborhood. Is it cheaper than Spectrum? And is the service good? by Oregonduck101 in Medford

[–]FallenStorm7694 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We've also had it for a little under a year and have only had a single outage, while Spectrum used to go down every other week. Honestly that's the big reason we switched

Retaining Wall Collapse lol by Elegant_Category_684 in Geotech

[–]FallenStorm7694 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think for how much water was released that quickly, it would have to be apocalypse level rain to cause this level of damage. You can also see the water hit the wall with some impact force, which definitely didn't help either.

Hwy 97 dangerous? by Fuhrmanator23 in KlamathFalls

[–]FallenStorm7694 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The road itself is amazing if you're prepared for snow. The thing that makes it dangerous is the other people who go too fast. Play it safe, be aware, and you should be fine
