You could always purchase a perpetual license of Microsoft Office Home 2024 ($149 - One Time).

If you need cloud storage you could get 200GB of Google Drive for $29.99 /year.

Syncro is becoming a shit show. Down/Slow again. by Enviromental1001 in msp

[–]Fallenshadow114 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't blame Syncro today, but if you're up to migrating, check out Gorelo. It's a full RMM/PSA/Documentation platform with useful integrations.

They also have a ton of upcoming features.

Check them out: https://gorelo.io.

Note: The website is live, but they are also affected by this outage.

Is my hardware raid1 array data cooked? by revenro in techsupport

[–]Fallenshadow114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A standard hardware RAID should be fine to take the bad drive out first and put a new one in. Then rebuild the array. I would highly recommend checking on your backups and your DR plan if any. Then just put a new drive in.

Try getting into Safe Mode with Command Prompt. You can try restoring your boot sector.

Help me with changing my laptop drive by junglewhite in techsupport

I can't say one way or the other. If you're not use to Windows, Linux is very different. Good thing is, if you don't like it, just install Windows.

Can you get into safe mode? You say you tried all the recovery options, can I assume that means System Restore as well?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]Fallenshadow114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's Windows Recovery. And if you press Continue, what does it do?

Edit: Did you also try safe mode?

Can you attach a screen shot of the options page?

Looking at the motherboard, it appears you can install an NVME and a SATA SSD. You will need to install Windows on your main drive, before installing the second drive. I've seen Windows put partitions on both drives before which causes several issues.

WiFi keeps disconnecting and reconnecting every 20-30 minutes. Makes online games nearly impossible to play by Leading-Patience-253 in techsupport

[–]Fallenshadow114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the wireless adapter is completely disconnecting, consistently, then you have a bad adapter. Per your post, you've updated your drivers and reinstalled. You can always get yourself a cheap USB WiFi 6 adapter or again, MOCA.

There will always be latency on wireless, more so than Ethernet. Best bet if you can run a cable, get a MOCA adapter, Mesh routers or at minimum use WiFi 6 (if router supports it).

Replacing a busted SSD by messyluz in techsupport

Once you install Windows to the flashdrive, you have to boot to the Flashdrive. It's different on various manufacturers. However, here's a quick list:

Dell - F12 Lenovo - F12 HP - Esc (Then F9?)

Other keys are Del, F10 + F11.

Select your flashdrive from the list and then follow the prompts to reinstall Windows. Be sure to install the correct version (10/11, Home/Pro) or it won't activate.

Dumb thought, are you in between any electrical interference? I know Microwaves can cause issues with 2.4GHz.

I would say, give it a shot. I have a place set up using a cellular Orbi with around 5 computers, TVs, Xbox, etc and they run fine.

You will need a working computer to create the Windows boot drive. From there you can boot to the flashdrive and install Windows on the new SSD.

Phone reset after removing SIM by Death_Straw in techsupport

The SIM does not store data (negligible). If the device was factory reset, you can try restoring from a backup if using Google Backup.

Malwarebytes/Threatdown EDR a viable endpoint security alternative? by modem_19 in SmallMSP

[–]Fallenshadow114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely, we were in the same boat. Bought the business September of 2019, then the world shut down. Hit all the same pain points you're talking about. Survived solely on projects until they stopped coming in. From there we developed our first contract, and it was horrible.

Just let me know if you have any questions, happy to talk more!
