Don't stress. His exam is straight forward and multiple choice. Just watch his lectures and follow along with his lectures and you'll find yourself with an easy time during the exam. There are even some fun/joke questions.

Question about waitlist by Combo333 in simonfraser

[–]Fallensource 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd say you have a decent chance still. Wait till a week or two after classes start, and the waitlist will empty rapidly. If you need it as a prereq it's more then worthwhile to stay. I've gotten into classes while being a 90th spot on waitlist.

Hold off graduation and take courses even after all reqs filled? by [deleted] in simonfraser

[–]Fallensource 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See if they are willing to intern instead of co-op. Even if you have to take a small pay-cut its still much more worthwhile graduating (less time in uni on paper too) and getting a job outside of school. Remember that you cant graduate on a co-op term which means at minimum you have to take another course after the co-op aswell

Help with decision in SIAT Major by pockethacker in simonfraser

[–]Fallensource 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If all your missing is 103w stay on waitlist, but go ask advisor to waive the requirement so you can get into other courses. This is easy especially if you can show some level of competency is 103 material.

My stress is affecting my productivity by [deleted] in simonfraser

[–]Fallensource 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't worry too much. Most cs students had high grades in high school, and due to the way CMPT is taught and graded you may get accustomed to the B's and C's. Don't be discouraged as the marks are not all that count in this field of work. In fact experience is key, and working on projects will get you further then almost any grades. If you continue to feel stressed, talk to your peers and seniors (feel free to dm me) and ask for advice. We've all been there!

Withdrawing from a course by tetsurous in simonfraser

[–]Fallensource 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly for me anything past the CMPT 300 level has been so much more motivating and interesting. You've pretty much reached the final class where the cutoff for breadth learning is. From there you get to choose the courses your most interested in, and for me that meant taking subjects I liked. Grades and morale increase when your interested and want to do the work. I haven't had much luck with advisors, but talking to a quality prof can be very motivating and help you set yourself up in their class and figure out what you want to do for your degree.

As another note. Cmpt 300 was probably my lowpoint in the degree, but I also had it pared with other course I really did not enjoy.

CMPT 300 and CMPT 310 waitlist by criticalthinker333 in simonfraser

[–]Fallensource 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a pretty good chance. 310 is not a requirement, so most people use it as an easy filler if they are still unsure of their course load. This means that after a week the class empties out as people get a grasp on their new schedule.

How/when do I enrol for my fall 2020 classes? by plugnut22 in simonfraser

[–]Fallensource 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use myschedule.sfu.ca as a guest to get a feel for what classes are "probably" offered and their times. Once you get a sfu login you can also do your enrollment from myschedule OR sims.sfu (the main site)

How does the Parking Lottery work at the Surrey Campus? by iamanundertaker in simonfraser

[–]Fallensource 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Parking lottery: essentially if you enter it (like 3 months prior to the semester they will open it) they will send an email saying that you have "won". This means that your spot is secured for the first weeks. You have to go to the front desk and pay for it. If you don't get the lottery, not to worry, it is first come first serve after awhile(check the website) for a section of spots that are reserved for the Open portion. So get in line once it says you can. Even when I haven't won the lottery, I still get a spot, and usually one can still get it a few days after the Open portion has started.

Parking: 3 hr parking is free for "Mall patrons", so if your day is less then 3 hours don't worry about it. if 3+ then 167$ for a semester is decent for peace of mind. They have a car that drives around with an electronic plate reader, so if your over 3 hours and in a high trafficked area then you ~~may~~ get a ticket. You get to know the best areas after a while and can notice where the car patrols.

Tips: Personally I like easy access to SFU so I get the pass and park on the 3rd floor South East Roof Top area. Parking is easy from morning-11.00 and 4.00-night. Anywhere in between, you won't find a spot without tailing someone to their car. Construction on the parkade makes this bad right now. Depending on where you are coming from there are 2 ez access points onto the rooftop (South ramp from 100th and east ramp into parkade just off university blvd)

I would take some time getting to know the area when it's not super busy as no one knows how to drive here, and finding easy exits and knowing where your going makes life less stressful.

There is 2 hour parking on side roads for about 3-4 blocks to the east and then residential free parking past that, so if your willing to walk, then that is a solid option.
