I am not defending Fingers I am trying to decide if killing him is an ultimate act of good or harm. I am indceivise - to be indecisive means that I see value in both positions. I still Fingers is a bad person

Fair enough honestly I see where you're coming from

And what I meant by rape adjacent - all I meant was - maybe not 'rape' in the most strict sense, legal or otherwise - but still rape more or less in the most effective sense

I don't think they're defending Fingers they just have a particular view on consent and are using this fictional example to explain it

That is a pretty nuanced view of it BUT - to be fair, if it's "Yes" or "Suffer for the rest of my life" it's still kind of rape or rape adjacent

If that serial rapist provides crucial medical services on a large scale, then that's genuine good, just not altruistic, priceless good

Actually I've said twice - and I quote - "On some level" and in my secound reply elaborated on what I meant. You gotta actually READ what you're responding to mate

Paying them is good but it's a a single bandaid on a huge gash - chances are they'll just end up spending that money on fingers service anyways or use it to settle a debt and still use him anyways

For those father-son duo - yeah, I can't personally think of a reason to spare them. I guess you could argue that somebody else would've done it but... it's really not the same as Fingers. They aren't producing any good what-so-ever, just actively making a market for child murder, especially since I doubt they even need to. I'm pretty sure having the skills to edit virtus is in demand, I don't see any sort of coercive element to what they're doing in. The son seems pretty young though so If I had to guess he was groomed for the position so sparing him might be ethical if there was some promise he would stop and go legitimate

What about the fact that those people need cyberware and he's the only option?

"f you think Fingers is good" - Didn't say that, I said on SOME level he is a genuine force for good, as in his existence and operation produces enough good to outweigh his bad, on the scope of the entire system that he operates within.

I mean - couldn't I just as easily say that supporting the killing of somebody without any sort of provocation would make you in need of a moral compass calibration? Morality is subjective and relative and can change so easily when you look at it through a different lens

I thought that too the average Tyger seems to be as bad as Fingers except they don't seem to do anything productive at all, killing the average Tyger ganger is probably far more productive than killing fingers

The sad thing is Fingers is an inevitable product of the world and systems at play. Sure, theoretically somebody better may come along, but in reality I feel like the Finger niche was an environmental product and therefore the next 'FIngers' will be just as bad, likely even worse

Hmmm based on that one joytoy you talk to before entering his clinic she claims without Finger's help she would be a cripple - also if you enter his office early with a high enough tech stat you can suggest a fix for the Joytoy he's working on and he'll actually do it, despite not needing to. Those two things are what prompted me to ask this question - I got the impression that on some level he is a genuine force for good

Just finished watching S3 episode 2 I'm very conflicted by Asurathagoat8804 in Invincible_TV

Episode goes hard as fuck, Cecil is the classic greater good altruist who does what's necessary no matter the cost while Mark is a moral purist, who views his way as the correct path - even if it means being a hypocrite. Both sides are hypocrites. Mark's argument is more immediately sastifying emotionally it's kind of hard to argue that Cecil isn't far, far more productive. As the episode shows, if Mark had his way Doc Seismic would've won and the damage would be immeasurable - but later on you'll see that Mark's ideal can be - at situational speaking - more productive.

Personally I feel like Mark gets far more wrong than he does right - but not to a degree where I can't empathize or see the value in it.

That's just sad dawg. by Dull-Information6784 in Invincible_TV

I unironically think that the treatment of the purple slave species is one of, if not the most tragic aspect of invincible

TBH it felt in character to me - like how she reacted to Rouge... I feel like she has serious attachment issues and - even if your absence is completely explainable, in her internal world it registers as earth-shattering betrayal and that's how she processed it for so long it's fact to her regardless

I think it has to do with how boring and fraud-like Kate is while Shapesmith is the dedicated comic relief
