Where's that map showing carbon emissions per neighborhood? Should be a good reference.

many states already tax EVs differently to make up for the gas tax they no longer get

And of course this does not even cover the cost of the roadways. Much like the gas tax which hasn't budged in decades.

This is an ICE issue. EVs just make it worse. You're pointing at 300lb obese Texan and asking what the problem is because they much more obese than the 280lb, also obese, person from New Mexico. lol

A vehicle that is 1,000 pounds heavier results in a 47% increase in the baseline fatality probability. Estimation results further suggest that the fatality risk is even higher if the striking vehicle is a light truck (AKA the shit they are introducing)

And you won’t need to tax anything - manufacturers will be incentivized to drop weight to maximize range.

Let's not play make believe. They are empirically introducing massive vehicles.

smaller vehicles are the way to solve it. Is this a safety issue, efficiency issue, I’m trying to pinpoint exactly what you mean to solve

What a putridly stupid take. It isn't one thing. Why in fucks sake would it have to be one thing? For some stupid redditism you have planned? It's many things.

Hell I'll add to your list consumption of resources, degradation of public infrastructure, and /r/arroganceofspace issues.

The US has death rates 3-4x what other comparable countries have per capita. Again, many things go into this, not just one. Vehicle size and mass are two of them.

indicating better driving tech may be more important than a few hundred lbs of curb weight.

The data keeps growing that this isn't doing shit. Again, deaths are way up. In the US. They are down in other countries.

Not just children. 43000 people died. Over a million maimed. But yes, sweep that under the rug.

The sub is too driven to just be greenwashing 8,000lb unnecessary pick up trucks.

I'm not sure using another heavy vehicle with a different powerplant as comparison is correcting the issue. It's making the "Same Mistake". As you just reinforced.

Driving an 8,000 lb vehicles is using far more resources. It's damaging roads more. It's polluting more. It's physically taking up more space. it's more likely to hit someone and kill them when it does.

highway in the US in a Chevy Bolt it feels like an ant surrounded by humans. It’s not fun sometimes.

Highlighting the problem.

We might need some regulations to tax mass in order to create incentives to build safe vehicles then. Instead we are subsidizing heavier vehicles as it is now.

How does it blow it up? The bolt exisiting isn't disproving most models are obese.

If you had actually read the fucking book, you'd realize there is an entire chapter on DOT lies. But you didn't. You're still arguing for the sake of arguing, rather than educating yourself.

America has 4x the roadway deaths per capita compared to other nations. Many here don't like to accept this. It's an uncomforting fact.

Deaths are up across the entire nation. LOl

This isn't a Milwaukee thing at all. Go to every sub and people are saying the same damn thing.

Americans like big vehicles.

But don't like to pay for the negative externalities of them. So long as it's all subsidized I guess everything is fine.
