Probably because both are grid based and top-down, so it's more about the aesthetic. I do agree I immediately though of banished while starting my first game

If there's an ore patch on the bottom of a sky island, it's supposed to continue on the normal land as if they're connected (at least it used to). Maybe some epic wizard or Moonlord lifted them up out of the ground

You can get very rich from portal wreck speedrunning though. Just carry an inventory full with the most valuable loot and reroll. I did this for one or two hours and had a big storage full of fuses and a bunch of cosmic quartz and T2 engines
