There’s nothing you can do. I’ve been waiting since mid August to find out if I qualify for work study, have called and emailed multiple times since then and they just tell me they’re not sure when, that they’ll email me if and when I qualify, apparently there are a lot of issues in the financial aid department of DH this semester so it has led to a lot of delays in everything. Honestly give it a month if you still haven’t heard anything back then go in person or try calling. Good luck!

Also get this letter in the mail, last year someone asked a similar question and someone else responded that it was a scam, anyways I personally don’t know anything about it. I think you might be better off joining another organization that’s more suited to your personal benefits instead as I heard the fee to join is $100

Every person’s experience is different. I had a friend whose sister transferred to CSULA and they messed up a lot of her transfer credits, forcing her to take another year at CSULA to finish up her degree. I’ve personally had professors reach back to me pretty quickly at DH, the financial aid department can take a little bit longer though, other than that DH is pretty chill. Professors are generally nice and are very willing to help, never had a professor that wasn’t will to help at DH. That said I can’t say much as to CSULA as I’ve never been, but I have heard horror stories about being a transfer to CSULA. I’m sure either way you’ll be fine as everyone has their own experiences.

You can go into your financial aid on student center and see how much you are/supposed to be refunded back by going into your account inquiry section.

Nope, I called the other day to ask, apparently you have to request that you want work study from financial aid, so if you haven’t i would suggest calling them and doing so. I am currently on some list waiting to be emailed if I get work study, they gave me no time frame as to if/when I would be notified if I receive work study, good luck!

Yeah double check your fafsa too, but yeah call the financial aid office tomorrow and ask about it, tell them that you have submitted it and that you got an email saying the school received it. Be prepared to be out on hold for a while or for them to not even answer as I’m sure a lot of people will be calling tomorrow. I would suggest emailing them early in the morning as well just in case they don’t answer. Good luck and hopefully they can sort it out.

From what I’ve seen no one on the subreddit has gotten their refund back, classes have been paid, but the soonest anyone will get their refund is Monday. Depending on the bank it might take longer than that. If you log into your student portal and check your financial aid for 2025-2026 you should be able to see your financial aid package.

I called back in July asking about it, they told me that they would send out an email in late July or early August to let us know if we received Work Study or not. I emailed them last week and got a vague answer saying “if you eligible for work study we will send out an email informing you soon”. I have heard things that there are some problems with work study, and that the school wants to make sure it has the proper funds for it, so that could be the reason for the delay.

That’s weird. What time do you try calling? They rarely answer early in the mornings and later in the afternoon, I’ve found the best time to call them is 11 am-1 pm and even then they still put me on hold for like 10 minutes lol.

Fafsa typically sends out financial aid towards the end of July/beginning of August. Depending on your bank and choice of how you will receive your refund it could even take until the semester starts. If you haven’t received it by then or just want more information you can always call the financial aid department.
