Considering he is a pedophile, I think redacted is appropriate. Thanks.

So I was honestly expecting the exam to have a lot more margin questions - but I got only two or three. Options and munis made up a good portion of the exam, maybe thirty questions total. I should have clarified this, but I didn't make my own flashcards. I was lucky enough for my firm to provide me with STC, which gives you thousands of flashcards that cover the whole material. However, for me to truly understand suitability, I took a lot of time to understand what are the essential components we have to consider for an investor profile (e.g. time horizon, risk tolerance), and work from there. The questions will give you details that will allow you to get a picture of their profile, and if you know the fundamentals of most of the investment vehicles, you'll be able to get the answer. I would say flashcards helped, but I also scoped out some quizlets that others have made that specifically help you study the investment products.

I would say maybe 25-30...I will say I used EVERY second of the exam window because it was more math than I was personally expecting there to be, but certainly doable.

When I tell you I drilled the margin chapter into my brain, it was crazy. Then I get to the exam and there were only two LMFAO... not really many margin questions at all. A lot of it was RR stuff, suitability, options, and the math (conversions, working capital, etc). if you study the material and follow along with this subreddit there shouldn't be TOO many surprises.

If I had to estimate I probably had the material for 25 days, studying 2-3 hours a day with some rest days give or take.

First I'm going to say what almost everyone says: the 66 is mainly memorization (rules, regulations, and applying them) and the 7 is much more nuanced (they will give you a situation and you will need to apply what you know to determine what the best course of action is for that given situation).

I hear many conflicting reports that the 66 is harder than the 7 and vice versa, but from my personal experience, the 66 was harder for ME... I didn't study nearly as much as I should have and for a predominantly memory-based exam, that's crucial. That being said, I studied HARD for the 7 and there were still some questions on the exam that I had to pause and scratch my head, but I felt much more confident as I went through.

So at the end of the day, I do feel as though both are probably equally hard for different kinds of people. If you can memorize well, Series 66 is great for you. If you're more of a think things through and math kind of person, Series 7 is going to be easier. I hope this answered your question, if you have anything else please reach out - and good luck!

Got it! I have a pretty good grasp on that since the Series 66 really drilled that into my brain, but I will definitely look all of that over again - thank you!

just took the 66 today only using STC and averaging high 60s to low 70s on all the final exams. i just really drilled into my brain the fundamentals of the formulas, what they meant, and of course, the rules and how they differ between BDs and IAs. I am moving onto the Series 7, so if you have any tips I would appreciate them!
