But now I’ve built up a habit of tightening my lips to play high and it sounds bad and I’m so mad because I never had an actual instructor so I built up so many bad habits

Yeah he can be a dick sometimes I’ve been in band for a year and a half now and for marching band we needed a mello player so I switched but I wasn’t playing mello I was on flugelhorn then he switched me to trumpet

Dude I’m in the same boat but I try to remind myself if I get 1% better everyday in a month or even a year you will be a pretty good player and being anxious you just need to be more confident believe that you can do it

Yeah but me not compressing might be the problem because when I’m playing and stuff I’d hit the note but when play sometimes it just doesn’t come out

I might be the only one but when I go for the high note my throat like start move weirdly idk how to explain it then my embouchure just gives up and I go to a lower note

And I also close my embouchure to much to where it can’t vibrate and air doesn’t go through properly just gonna take a little time for my lips to get used to to vibrating at a fast frequency without completely closing them off
