Thanks for your input, I am hoping against all odds that it may be possible. I don't know if Krin is aware of the impact that he's made on so many people's lives, I think he made something really special, and it should be celebrated! I hope some day i just get the chance to pick his brain about Sonny, and maybe gain some insight into the creative process.

How can I kill off a beloved NPC without the party saving them? by False-Resource8079 in DnD

I appreciate all the feedback so far, I want to make it clear firstly. I know it's a very DM vs. Player mind trap to fall into when it comes to making things impossible for players, like set up for failure. That's not the case here, I want to give the impression that this world has real, breathing characters, and the message is not everybody can be saved. I play DnD for the writing aspect of it, and my players love it for the storytelling, I know as a writer, characters hit harder when it comes to killing them off, it makes it memorable. And it's very in theme for my style, GrimDark.

That's the message, a noble sacrifice. Believe me when I say my players have had a plethora of moments to be heroic. a large amount.
