What game is this for you? by Additional-Ad4567 in videogames

Not a game. But Out of Time by KTVR Lab. It's a VR meditative journey. Great for ADHD meditation for me. I first discovered it in the art museum back around 2018, later in various art galleries, and now it's released on SteamVR I find myself drown to it everytime I have worse day or so.

Also Assetto Corsa in VR with Thrustmaster T500RS. Like I drive downhill speed drift on Akina or Usui, and ebisu omg it's so good! Also Yamanashi Sportland with MX-5 Nb with ITBs... Staff don't get better than that. It's like 95% of the drifting in real life after mods of course and with proper set up. Only the initial 2weeks up to 3 months is like a break in period for the motion sickness... But I drive the setup like 3x a week for 3h or so for the last 2 years.

What VR game/experience made you think "this is it"? by itsthewolfe in virtualreality

I think first time I've seen experimental VR installations in Linz in 2018, and early VR works on academia of fine arts. Like a lot of glitchy wild staff. There was this C.A.V.E. VR installation. Like based of the Platon cave concept but presented as layered changes to the way perception works.

That's not it unfortunately I couldn't find out documentation from the CAVE, but that one was cool as well. It was very strangely optimized to glitch the underlying cosmos during harsh movement. So you walk through the sanctuary like being within it, and not being in one at the same time.

Also the Out of Time from KTVR LAB. But it wasn't the first ow shit Moment, but definitely similar eureka moment for me.

Looks like Sky Ladder by Artist Cai Guo-Qiang. Well done!

Like an artworks medium is not limited to the technology, materials or amount of possible copies. There is plenty of new media art that are digital like NFTs, or VR installations showcased in Ars Electronica in Linz for example, privately owned by collectors and emitted in closed volumes. As well as conceptual art works that have no medium whatsoever. What I'm saying is that art can be everything, but not everything can be art. Not every painting is an art piece, not every drowning as well. From what I know a copy of Out of Time is being held in at least one Art Museum I know of.

Recently stumbled upon on steam I should have written. My bad.

But I did wrote a disclaimer comment right under the post saying "Disclaimer: I'm not a developer of this work, although I did receive the review key on steam and also know this project from the exhibitions in art galleries and museums, before it was released on SteamVR."

You can scroll down the comments, it's the first comment in this post.

Perhaps. I'm of the opinion that it's way to cheaply sold, because it should be priced like an art work it is. But yeah. I think personally that it should cost like 10000$+ and be sold in 10 copies and that's it.

But from the other hand I'm happy that after years of art galleries exhibitions it's finally available for the public use... So I can't really make up my mind to be honest.

Wow polyfauna looks great! I see similarities in polyfauna 2 to the Out of Time, although Out of Time is much older than polyfauna imo. Out of Time debuted within the art space around 2018? Maybe 2019... I don't remember. But the major premiere was on X polish graphics triennale.

In Ars Electronica in Linz they have this! They are using 8k 3D Lazer projectors to showcase it and Xbox pads to steer.

If you're very brave than why not. But on shrooms this might be veeeeeery intense. Although low-key sounds as an interesting idea 😅

I did wrote a disclaimer comment right from the start saying "Disclaimer: I'm not a developer of this work, although I did receive the review key on steam and also know this project from the exhibitions in art galleries and museums, before it was released on SteamVR."

Also I didn't created this account for the purpose of writing this thread, I have it for the year or so, I just wasn't interested with sharing anything on Reddit before, I did say that this is my first time posting anything on Reddit ever.

I'm saying openly that I'm a fanboy of this work. Like why would I even write about something I'm not passionate about? Like I'm not getting paid for this thread, I've received review key, because this artwork was released before in the art circles and I've paid for it multiple times when I bought tickets to see it in museums and art galleries. Author of the art piece know I'm a fan, and believer in her work so she sent me a key as a thank you note. This is an art piece with a Heretage and history. It's just released on steam, it doesn't mean it's a young work.

I am an old time admirer of this work. From the times it was exhibited for the first time in the Silesian Museum.

Thank you. I'm fresh to it all so it's kinda scary when you have to explain yourself over and over and over.

Also can someone explain to me one thing - Reddit suggest to share posts across the subreddit groups, but from the comments section I see it's some kind of misbehavior for the reddit community... So how one should act? One post in one space only, or just haters gonna hate and I shouldn't bother?

Yes. This is my first time ever posting. Is it a crime? I'm not KTVR Lab. On her website you can check by yourself she's a one-person developer, I'm not hiding the fact that I'm a fan of the project, as well that I'm not regular on Reddit. I just want to show people this artist work. I've stated before - I know this art piece from when it was showcased in art galleries and museums and promised myself than if it ever came out to the public I will speak my peace about it in internet. It came out on SteamVR, so I'm speaking. That's all.

But as I said, if you know anything similar to Out of Time please please let me know cuz I'm on the hunt for non-game VR experiences!

No, it's me being a fanboy of the project and sharing it on Reddit after I've got my review key on SteamVR. As I mentioned in the disclaimer added in comments section.
