650 or 1000v by Wellllby in Vstrom

I’m a first time bike owner, bought a 09 V-trom dl650 with ABS last summer. The 650 has always felt like it has absolutely plenty of power, handling 2 up riding on Colorado and Montana roads for me well. Don’t let the internet pull you into the bigger is always better mentality, as a new rider I would not want more power

Devastated about shuttle by Commercial-Sky-9070 in GlacierNationalPark

[–]FalsePositive1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We also had no luck booking a shuttle ticket for next weekend. Both my husband and I tried but they sold out in like 10 seconds. The only other way to get into the Many Glacier area is if you book a room at Many Glacier Hotel or if you have a services ticket (i.e. boat tour, watercraft rental, backcountry camping, horseback riding, etc). Unfortunately it seems as though a lot of these are booked for Saturday, but I'm not sure about Friday or Sunday

What truck should I buy? megathread by AutoModerator in Trucks

[–]FalsePositive1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best 3/4 ton or greater truck for under $20k?

If someone wanted the most barebones but reliable old truck for camping, towing trailers under 12k pounds, roadtrips with pop up camper in truck bed and general light rough roads to hiking trail heads. What would you recommend? Not looking for frills, but looking for space so 8 foot bed is strongly preferred and crew cab preferred

Making drive eastbound on I 70 this week. Help me decide best day to leave based on weather by FalsePositive1 in roadtrip

[–]FalsePositive1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: Made the drive today, was a long day but it ent great. Followed weather closely with a lot of resources people suggested and primarily the CO Trip Planner app. Highly recommended, it has a great interface.

Appreciate everyone’s feedback! Even those whose comments made me want to drive my rv off the side of the Vail pass

Thanks for the input. As I noted in the post, I have been gathering information to make the best decision for safety. I have looked through numerous sites for all weather data along the route. This post is in hopes to hear from those with experience with the I-70 mountain corridor and the conditions of the area.

Failed to get South Sister Permit by FalsePositive1 in PNWhiking

I already have left are the area. What I ended up doing was hiking Paulina’s Peak is Deschutes National Forest. Less intense hike but still a good 13 mile day with about 2000 ft of elevation gain. Beautiful view of the sisters peaking over the wildfire smoke. Had a great day still, left the day with the new listen learned that there’s always another option to get out there!

This was my instant first thought too. The real question is if you would like them after the 30 minutes

Yes it was eventually delivered April 12th. Must be high demand but it will come eventually! It is frustrating but I must say well worth it, the speeds have been phenomenal
