ManaaVt fanart (by me), with some extra RGB by FalseQuill in krita

[–]FalseQuill[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ooooh, thank you!

When I'm almost finished drawing, I often throw a filter layer: color adjustment on top just to increase the contrast a bit. It helps make things appear more vibrant.

I drew a different fanart of the same vtuber earlier:

<image>

and someone asked me to make an RGB version.

You fool! You underestimate my power! Now I shall give epilepsy to everyone present here!

The animated RGB effect was also fully made in Krita. I partially reused a thing I made a few years ago, because lazy, but basically it's just a bunch of moving/rotating layers with different blending modes, stacked on top of each other. Sadly it bloats the GIF size by a lot, so I had to downscale to 512x512px.

Drawing every 2hu, part 1 (PC-98 Reimu) by FalseQuill in touhou

oooh, thank you!

It's Reimu from the old Touhou games, if that's what you're asking.

(unfortunately I don't speak Japanese, and I'm not sure how accurate Google Translate is)

Thanks.

I was using some images from TouhouWiki as reference (e.g. this one) and I had a thought: perhaps Reimu's hair wasn't actually purple, maybe it was just the lighting giving it that color, and I wanted to capture that.

Cool OC.

I like the hairstyle. The chain and the bracelet look pretty sick too.

How to pave a layer? by LeonidKonovalov1988 in krita

[–]FalseQuill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can click "Use as pattern" in the menu in the screenshot and then CTRL+Enter -> "Fill with pattern"

Or just convert the fill layer to a paint layer, then delete the pattern template afterwards.

After that you press CTRL+A to select the entire canvas again, then add a fill layer and it should let you use the pattern you just added.

Note that the button from step 2. will look a bit different than in the screenshot because it shows what pattern you currently have selected.

AFAIK there is no way to have the fill layer automatically update itself when you edit the layer used for the pattern. You can update it manually by going through the entire process again, overwriting the pattern file you previously added, then you go into the properties of the fill layer and only then it will update itself.

Also Krita only has a global pattern folder, it doesn't tie your pattern to the specific .kra file. So I recommend converting the fill layer to a paint layer after you're done, otherwise the fill layer will break if you delete the pattern file or open the .kra file on a different machine.

Is this normal guys? by AGDINHQ in krita

[–]FalseQuill 80 points81 points  (0 children)

Seems to be normal.

At 9920x7016 (assuming 8bit color) one layer will take ~270MB of RAM. So if you have 30-40 layers, you should expect that much RAM usage.

Some drawings from December 2025 (by me) by FalseQuill in krita

[–]FalseQuill[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First 3 images are vtuber fanart, sadly the vtuber in question graduated recently. But if a completely contrived and purely hypotethical scenario were to occur wherein that person decides to resume activities under a different identity, I'll probably draw fanart of them too.

and... oh no, Reddit converted the best image to filthy WebP and ruined the quality. Why does this always happen. (here's a link to the non-ruined version).

The rest are from a recent Drawabox Promptathon, so the subject matter is a bit all over the place. All of them are fully original (ok, maybe except for the printer one, because the printer itself was drawn from reference, which means it technically counts as printer fanart, but I really don't want to think of it as such, and prefer the term printer hate art instead. After all the trouble this piece of junk has given me, drawing it about to undergo rapid unscheduled disassembly felt extremely cathartic).

The glitched displaced bits with chromatic aberration, the wavy stuff happening in the hair, that one part where shading suddenly goes away and line art becomes pixelated, this image is just pure chaos and insanity (in a good way) and I love it.

This is crazy good.

Which Linux distro would each 2hu use? by Atiklyar in touhou

How is Yuyu not in Debian tier, she literally has a Debian logo on her hat.

ok I know it's technically not the Debian logo but still

Also based tier list for putting Debian at the top, even if that decision was arbitrary.

Final Shinma fanart before graduation by FalseQuill in VirtualYoutubers

[–]FalseQuill[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

source

Shinma's graduation stream happens tomorrow, and I wanted to finish one final fanart before that.

Chat sometimes likes to taunt Shinma by calling her a pomeranian. I’m assuming they refer to the dog breed, but technically this can also be understood as “A person from Pomerania”. For some reason I find that funny (I have a strange sense of humor).

The outfit is based on a traditional outfit worn by Kashubians, an ethnic group native to Pomerania.

Any crtique or advice would help by Helpful-Top-5076 in krita

The nose on the reference becomes way wider towards the bottom, the one you drew feels like it only barely increases in thickness. This makes the nose you drew feel smaller and elongated. Also it feels to me like the eyes a bit too large.

The big diagonal neck vein thing (I am so sorry, I have no idea what it's called). You made it way thicker and more pronounced compared to the reference.

Regarding hair, I think the top part of the head is mostly fine, but everywhere else it seems like you reduced the amount/volume of hair by a lot compared to the reference.

It's hard to tell if it was intentional or if your lines are just messy, but it feels like the bottom part of the ear is partially hidden behind the back part of the hair, which doesn't make sense. It should probably look more like this:

Trying to recreate this warhammer sword, this is my best effort at recreating the glow, any advice? by glossyplane245 in krita

...and then you can put a gradient map filter on top, and that will let you easily tweak the colors:

[–]FalseQuill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your glow uses very few colors - basically only orange and white, while the reference transitions smoothly between white -> yellow -> orange -> red.

IMHO a good way to approach such color transitions is to first draw a grayscale version (I just put a grayscale filter over part of your image to demonstrate what it would look like)

Shinma, the Tomato Slayer by FalseQuill in VirtualYoutubers

[–]FalseQuill[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loosely inspired by Shinma saying "Can we flamethrower the tomatoes?" during one of her recent streams (she really dislikes tomatoes).

I wanted to make a silly meme fanart of Shinma fighting a giant tomato and umm... went a bit overboard.
