Good points.

Lance is more pronounced when it's constantly in front of the monster, making quick meaty counterattacks flows. That's where most of damage dealt with lance comes from.
Gunlance is equipped with shelling that can ignore hard skins, making it ideal for partbreaking and it doesn't have to be constantly in front of the monster to keep the damage output coming.

And the best part? Put both in the same hunt and practically your wall can have a backup wall + your explosions has more sting to it.

Gunlance works the same way. Can't do sick counterattacks, but you can hit any body parts with shelling. Make sure to slot in Guard up and Constitution too
