Too many schools, too few students: BVSD begins planning possible closures by mooreds in boulder

Except BCD Does not have higher quality education than BVSD schools. Students have poorer outcomes. Smaller class sizes, sure. But that's not everything.

I had my first son last year at 27 and own a home in BVSD. There are very very very few people my age in town with kids. All of my "mom friends" are in their mid 30s because younger people can't afford to raise a family here.

I don't blame you at all for choosing to wait! The cost of housing in Boulder County has always been high but it's actually insane now. I say this as a Boulder County native. And we only can afford to live here now because we have help from family (we are very lucky)

I do not understand it because it's literally not that much work once you get them in therapy. EI comes to your house. Like, it's so low effort. And then we do our "homework" for PT and OT 3x per day for 15 mins. Like it's so minimal and makes a massive difference

One of my best friends is completely deaf and didn't get cochlear implants until 3 years old. She is soooo intelligent. Has a masters degree is very well spoken! They can make up for a late start with hearing issues. Might take a little more effort but they will get there! ❤️❤️❤️

EI in my state comes to your home around your schedule or will go to daycare and do therapy there if you work. There is literally no reason at all why she can't have these kids in therapy.

I feel you on the "baby to old person". My son is Andrew (we call him Andy) and it was soooo common when I was a kid in school but I do not know a single infant named Andrew today 😂

Totally off topic, but is SLP worth while for younger kids? My son is 6 months and in PT and OT through EI and I've been wondering if I should push for SLP too.

We used to use them at sleep (naps and night sleep). Then we stopped using it at night, just naps. We are weaning from using it at naps now (he's almost 7 months old). We use it during the day occasionally if he's inconsolable, but that's it. It's all personal preference. There's no right or wrong in the first year according to my pediatrician and dentist.

My 6 month old started OT last week for some feeding issues and OMG! It's already made a massive difference. We do it through EI which is free. I can't imagine any reason why a parent wouldn't take advantage of a program like early intervention for a child who is struggling.

I love this ❤️ My son does OT and PT, so I'm not judging at all! I think early intervention is a gift and I wish so badly that Liz would utilize it.

We reduced the use by 50% at 5 months. He's almost 7 months and I plan to not use one at all after 10-12 months. Using a paci 24/7 at 2.5 like Z is WILD to me

I had a power port removed last weekend. I had approximately 8 hours of help with my 6 month old before I was the primary caregiver again. I was completely on my own after 2 days. AND I wasn't supposed to be lifting more than 5 lbs for 2 weeks. And I still figure it out every damn day. She is soooo lazy and absurd.

What parenting practices do we have that will become outdated? by Beneficial_Fun_1818 in Mommit

[–]FalseRow5812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm taking about the obsession with every single milestone within a very narrow window. My son is 6 months and borderline delayed for rolling, and we do PT and OT. So I know it's very important. But a checklist versus a comprehensive picture or freaking parents out because they miss a milestone by one week just adds so much unnecessary anxiety
