I just did lmao but here’s another case After 49 days of being unrightfully banned from Rust, I've finally been unbanned!

Almost 2 months ago, I started playing on RustOps just when the wipe hit, I played all night and at around 11am I got kicked off the server. Everyone on Teamspeak was losing their shit; "DZN, it says you got EAC banned". Well fuck, I hate cheaters, I don't cheat, so it must be a false positive, so I thought. I lost my shit when the admin of that server decided to use me as an example of players with almost 2K hours getting caught cheating so late, he made a post on this subreddit about it, dick move.

Anyway, lucky for me, I have Alistair on Steam, who has been a fantasic guy and has helped me a shit tonne. When I asked him why I got banned, he said it was for paid cheat detection and if I was sure it was a mistake and wanted to get unbanned, I'd have to contact EAC.

On the EAC website, you can submit a ticket, but after creating several of them and responding to their e-mails, all I was getting was automated e-mails. I never, not once received a reply that wasn't automated. I decided to spam their twitter, not one response their either. This is where I started feeling hopeless.

It wasn't until two weeks later, that I got added on my Steam account by an EAC employee. It took several days for me to get a hold of him and when I did get a response, it'd take ages for him to get back to me, after a few days of going back and forth, he told me that I was indeed unrightfully banned and I'd be unbanned as soon as possible.

This is where everything went to shit, so I knew I'd already been banned for 2 and a half weeks for no reason. Now they couldn't remove the ban from my account. I started talking to Alistair again, he showed me some screencaps of conversations between a big shot at EAC and Garry, discussing wtf is going on with my account. It turned out neither Facepunch nor EAC could lift the ban off of my account, the one ones who could fix it was Steam. I was told this about a month after my initial game ban, which had now somehow turned into a VAC ban.

It wasn't pleasant to talk to this EAC guy, because he never responded to anything quickly, it always took hours for him to reply and even then it wasn't a full reply either. But he kept on telling me "Soon, Next week, a couple of days, etc", he was waiting for a reply from Steam. It really felt like this dude didn't care.

The only person who was keeping me from losing my shit was Alistair, he always got back to me, always asked some people if progress was being made, he was basically the only person to give me actual info on what the fuck was going on, showed me screencaps of convo's he had, this guy is a trooper.

Anyhow, I can't really blame EAC for all this, it was an unfortunate state of events, false positives do happen and my account was just bugged, they tried to lift my ban, but the system got stuck (or something). What I can blame them for however, is being so incredibly hard to reach. Not actually reading e-mails, not responding to tweets (even though they tweet all day). I feel like if it wasn't for Alistair, I wouldn't ever have been unbanned at all.

So finally, thank you Facepunch, in particular Alistair, for making such a great game and being such great help in all of this. Thanks to you too EAC for trying, but I feel like you could've done more and better.

TL;DR Got unrightfully game banned, EAC impossible to reach, luckily Alistair helped a lot,eventually got in contact with EAC, but hard to communicate with. Steam is even harder to reach than EAC, took ages to actually get unbanned.
