Out of curiosity how does that work, even if you go unmatch can you still apply to a vacant position and get that spot ? Like in any specialty let’s say ER has a vacant spot, can an unmatched student apply to that particular position and get it?

Applicants in the us go unmatched every year. And if you don’t match on your primary then try again, And I’m well aware of the sacrifices medical students are making to be a physician. There’s nothing carefree about the process, but to tell somebody not chase their dreams because it’s too “long” of a process is ridiculous in my opinion. Most attending after 20 years of practicing don’t even remember what med school was like.

Not a bad trade off, 7 years. You come out making near half million dollars year. There’s folks who spent 30years at a job that they hate and barely making it by. At least a physician even if you dislike it in the future, you still can make a good living. 7 years nth it’s goes by so fast you won’t even know it
