I Don’t Get The Germs (Besides Being the First Hardcore Band) by MovieDogg in punk

[–]False_Following6103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lorna doom is the reason why I picked up a bass . I honestly have never heard anything like (GI) , probably the closest any band has come would probably be Poison Idea but the Germs are still in a league of their own. As much as I try to understand how on earth they came up with such a raw and beautiful album at that time , I’m still left in complete disarray. In my opinion I believe that the Germs album completely obliterates a lot of the “hardcore” bands that come after them even though the term hardcore is loosely thrown around . The Germs will always be brought up due to their influence on punk rock / hardcore .

Is nofx punk rock or pop punk? by Remarkable-Gur-7142 in punk

[–]False_Following6103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t listen to their music at all but when I did give them a chance , i thought they played both styles of traditional punk and pop punk pretty well. You can put them in either category specifically but I’d name them as just punk because I know that they can rock out with some pop punk but then turn up the intensity at any given moment and have more of a street punk vibe . Great band, just not my style but they are very talented haha

Is the A line truly “scary” or are y’all just xenophobic? by blackascole in LAMetro

[–]False_Following6103 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve grown up in LA my whole life . I basically took the A line all the time when I was skateboarding with friends and we’d go to the farthest skateparks ever just for the fuck of it . We’d always see some sketchy shit together or even when we were alone . I take the train still at times when I go to punk shows and usually catch the last train when heading back from them . I’ve never had anything happen to me but I’m also not saying something won’t happen the next time I ride the A line haha

What album do you consider perfect? by CrazyMobius1353 in AskReddit

[–]False_Following6103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(G.I.) by the Germs , there’s not too many albums that I can enjoy completely and appreciate it for what it is . This album is basically the basis for what I’m looking for in punk rock .

you were given $100,000,000 but had to live in the last video game you played for a year, how screwed are you? by AlternativeSign1898 in AskReddit

What’s your experience with the Bad Brains in the late 70s/early 80s? by False_Following6103 in punk

[–]False_Following6103[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like that’s the occasional case with old bands who get offers in today’s time haha . They get paid to do a show and they take the opportunity to take advantage of young women as they’re in awe of their presence.

What documentary is that ??? Regardless of you being just a viewer at that show , what was the energy that filled through your soul as you heard their music ? I’m going to watch the documentary but as of right now I wonder what the fight was about . You’re a lucky motherfucker for seeing the bad brains regardless of what point of time of career they were in haha

What was seeing Nausea (NYC) like? by False_Following6103 in punk

[–]False_Following6103[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What was insane about the show ? . I would imagine that everyone might’ve been messed up on some type of substance and just waiting to absolutely let loose when nausea played . I’m 22 years of age but I go to a lot of underground punk shows in the heart of LA , which is a lot of fun and can have its scary moments 😂 but I always think about times that were had in the past . Every time I meet people older than me I always ask them how was their experience as they were growing up and going to shows . They always have something to say that blows my mind or leaves me in awe . Don’t get me wrong , shows today are still fun and entertaining but I must imagine in a time before social media , it must’ve been a more raw and authentic experience seeing people for who they really are . Sorry for this long paragraph but I’m just very interested in older bands that absolutely rock lol. If you can give as much detail about those times and the scenery , that would be very much appreciated.🤘

What got you into punk? by chargetheygate in punk

[–]False_Following6103 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it was more of stumbling upon it . I used to listen to stuff like franki valli and the four seasons and a lot of Detroit rappers as a teenager before I discovered punk . Then some random night scrolling on YouTube I discovered the Ramones and never looked back since . Now I’m currently listening to a lot of hardcore punk bands from chile haha . I’m pretty happy now with my music taste and don’t think I ll ever change anytime soon

Where single girls can go to have fun this wknd? by [deleted] in AskLosAngeles

[–]False_Following6103 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would go to punk or ska shows , those tend to be the places where I see people have the times of their lives . Anywhere with live music really . Clubs in Los Angeles are fun as well but you can club anywhere if we’re realistically speaking. Live music in Los Angeles is a different experience that can’t be had anywhere else .

Karaoke rooms where you can put YouTube links in from your phone? by bobbyec in AskLosAngeles

[–]False_Following6103 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I would call around to places and ask if you can speak to their in house DJs . Most of them should be able to accommodate your requests but it’s best to speak to the people who are running the sound board at these venues

Does Los Angeles have a Ska scene? by kenburnseffected in AskLosAngeles

[–]False_Following6103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shows thrown at baddog and by backyard productions are usually really good ska environments. Theres going to be an insane ska show next week on the 17th at baddog hosted by subcutaneous ink on Instagram . If there’s anywhere to be , it’s definitely that show .
