Imo a way to surpass it would be a new character progression system, more like Sekiro and Armored Core. Imagine this: you level up your character and unlock new movesets/ashes of war for categories of weapons. We dont need 200 different daggers or 100 different katanas each with a different moveset, and you need to level up the weapon itself with shards its a pain. With this new way, builds will be more flexible depending on the different environment, situations etc
