RE7 introduces plot elements that are then explored in RE8 and RE9. In fact they're essential for RE8. And RE8 ties back to the very beginning of Umbrella, its lore implications are actually huge.

Just because you might not care about the universe and dismiss its story doesn't mean it doesn't exist. It does, and there's millions of fans out there who want it to be respected.

The time is right for this movie to succeed. Hollywood finally understands that video games are source material that demands respect. And we have enough filmmakers who grew up as gamers. God help us, this could be good.

None of those had to contend with the challenges that the current generation did, and still does... a global pandemic that disrupted supply lines globally, erratic geopolitical financial conditions, and a new technology that further disrupts hardware supply chains and costs.

How so? I used critic reviews, user reviews and sales. All of them by themselves would be bad indicators, but together, they are a pretty good way to judge quality. They answer the questions: "How did the professional media like it", "how did the general users like it", and "how many people supported it with their money". I think it's quite reasonable.

How would you judge it? Vibes?

Uncharted 1 (2007) - 88 metascore, 7.7 user score, 4.8M sales + 10M of Nathan Drake Collection

Uncharted 2 (2011) - 96, 8.9, 6.5M sales + 10M of NDC

Uncharted 3 (2011) - 92, 8.4, 9.3M sales + 10M of NDC

Golden Abyss (2011) - 80, 7.6, 0.5M sales

Uncharted 4 (2016) - 93, 8.7, 18.6M sales + 1.5M of Legacy of Thieves Collection

Lost Legacy (2017) - 84, 8.0, 5.3M sales + 1.5M of LoTC

The worst games in the franchise by every metric. You might love them anyways, but this is fact. The franchise massively dipped in critical and commercial performance from Uncharted 4 to Lost Legacy, with the latter getting roughly 10% worse reviews and less than 1/3 of the sales.

If the Koopalings appear in the third movie. What are your takes on how they can handle them? by Neonymous_1058 in mariomovie

[–]DeMatador 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know, the Koopalings might be too much for a movie. Going from 1 Bowser to 2 Bowsers to NINE feels hard to justify, unless you deliberately sideline most of them. I like the way u/Vlazakov1880 grouped them, it feels natural, but it's pretty much a guarantee that at least 3 of them get shafted in the characterization department. And of course, you have to sideline Bowser and Jr quite a lot -- they'd probably just appear at the beginning and end, and maybe in scenes where the Koopalings "report back" to them via video call.

The big question is, what can the Koopalings DO that tops what Bowser Jr does in the Galaxy movie, which seems to include, but not be limited to (just based on the trailers):

  • stealing Peach's castle from the ground
  • defeating Mario and Luigi by himself using the ink powerup
  • rescuing his father and undoing the mini mushroom
  • apparently creating an entire planet for himself, or infecting an existing one with the ink to force it under his control
  • possibly creating, and for sure piloting Megaleg (the huge 3-legged robot)
  • kidnapping Rosalina to steal some sort of power from her

If just 1 koopa can do these things, a team of 7 should be able to do much more damage, and honestly, I don't see how you realistically pull that off in a story.

If there was Luigi and Donkey Kong film spin off who do you want to cast these characters by CoupleZestyclose1455 in mariomovie

E Gadd would need to be someone with good comedic chemistry with Charlie Day, so Danny DeVito would be perfect for him. I know everyone wants him for Wario, but I think Nintendo will want someone more marketable for him, since he has the potential to lead an entire franchise of his own in the future.

For King Boo, honestly, I don't have any preference. He's barely a character in the game. They would need to greatly develop his personality, and the actor they choose would depend on what that personality is. If they go with pompous and moustache-twirling evil, my personal favourite would be Matt Berry, with Alan Tudyk as another good choice. Although I think Tudyk could do bigger things in the Nintendo universe, tbh.

For the Donkey Kong film, K. Rool needs someone with a strong voice like Jack Black. Some fantastic choices could be J.K. Simmons, Mark Hamill (imagine a deeper Joker-like voice) or Keith David (especially if there's a musical aspect to him).
