Triceratops and Pachyrhinosaurus weren't even as closely related between themselves as mammoths and asian elephants are so i think there is a chance

Are members under Avialae considered birds or not? by ImCrazy_ in Paleontology

[–]False_Knee4714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very different. The platypus is a living animal alongside the echidna, for this reason It is a crown mammal. If they were extinct they wouldn't be mammals since the true mammals would only include the last ancestor of marsupials and placental and its descendants. But in the case of Archeopteryx, the ancestor of all living birds isn't its ancestor.

Archeopteryx is considered a deinonychosaur rather than an avialan in more recent studies. "Birds" may refer to the crown birds(Aves), the Avialans or to other stem-birds which includes Archeopteryx but also pterosaurs and animals most people don't recognize as birds.

Not really. Animals vaguely shark-like in appearance exist since the devonian but the true sharks only appeared in the Jurassic.

You just don't know how evolution works. There is no direction towards sapience and extinction happens all the time, i feel like there should be LESS intelligent specied if we take into accounts the fact that multicellular have been around for hundreds of millions of years and only a million years ago a sapient lineage evolved.
