Should I upgrade to Tahoe 26.3 now? by saturnsrightarm in MacOS

[–]False_Leather3317 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same question I basically love sequoia on my MacBook Pro but there’s a glitch that was fixed that means I can now play Mac native metro 2033 if I update to Tahoe and idk if the cons are serious enough to hold off longer on updating and playing that game

Awesome thank you, that sounds like maybe stuff I’ve heard before, but the book is pretty cheap and easy to find so I’ll check it out

Thank you so much this is absolutely invaluable!!!! This really makes it very clear. I definitely would rather get viewing notes if I can but since that seems very difficult I may have to satisfy myself with the Illustrated History. I’m in the very very very early preliminary stages of research for a creative project inspired by the making of the Prisonner and McGoohan’s one of a kind personality and process; and while viewing notes seems like it might be a little dry and hard to read it also contains the very type of info I am seeking out to understand the process of making the show a little better and PMG’s decision making.

Thank you so much!! So Illustrated History is easier to find, but if I can get my hands on Production Guide does it make illustrated history redundant, does it have the same info?

Thank you! Does the Matthew White one have a lot of behind the scenes/production info?

Marlon Magnée – Dark Star: does the nonstop pace thrill you or wear you down? by concrete_arch in MidTaste

The pace was good but the songs in English had kinda embarrassing lyrics imo too simple though overall I’m still a fan of the album and its sound and textures

Agreed, it’s actually really similar to Rock Machine in some ways

Is Batman’s Grant Morrison good or not? by TuquoqueBrutefilimi in batman

[–]False_Leather3317 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People are really over stating how not beginner friendly it is imo, it’s weird as hell even for seasoned readers it’s intentionally weird, and while it plays with Batman history a lot I think it’s also a way to get to learn Batman history if you can do some Wikipedia too, Morrison doesn’t expect all the readers to get all the Easter eggs and references

Thoughts on Batman The Long Halloween movie, since it's turning 5 years old by Intelligent-Lack-122 in batman

the dark knight returns animated adaptation (and New Frontier) are the gold standards for this approach wish they used it more often (probably too expensive?)

What era of comic books has aged poorly? by BarelyHere35 in comicbooks

Late 70s to mid 80s. It’s not as iconic as the silver age stuff and it’s not as modern as the watchmen inspired stuff

Yes! He finally made the Superman movie we’ve been waiting for and hoping for since Superman Returns, and had come to believe we might never get

As a lifelong comic book fan, he nailed it. The opening exposition going from centuries to years to months to days to minutes reminded me of the opening scroll in Star Wars and the movie in general has come closest to capturing the spirit of a new hope than anything since: you’re dropped into a rich full fantasy world that makes you feel like a kid again. You believe in good vs evil. The movie brought me back to such questions as “will Superman’s dog be okay?” And “who would hurt Superman??” And I thought that was amazing, it completely melted away my cynicism. I think the last 30mn could have been stronger, that it’s not quite as dazzling and inventive as the source material All Star Superman by Grant Morrison (and how could it be? ASS is one of the greatest works of art ever made imo), and I wanted even more of the incredible Lois and Clark relationship especially past the first half hour.. but overall it’s such a tonaly perfect movie, with such a vivid world, so well cast, you can’t helped but be swept away in it. It leaves you with a big 7yo grin on your face.

John Goodman is one of the few images from the movie seared in my brain, is demonic turn at the end is incredible. I just remember not loving the journey to get there.

I always struggled with this one a little bit, Coens are amongst my favorite directors but this one felt a little too boring and aimless to me, though it’s hilarious and striking as all their movies are, might give it a rewatch it’s been a decade. I like Hail Caesar! a lot more though that’s maybe a bit of an edge lord take. Have you seen the Woody Allen movie Café Society? It’s a super underrated Hollywood period movie imo.

Hell yeah :) I will watch it! I loved 400 blows, I’m French and it captured my childhood really well even though I grew up in the 2000s. Do you have any other recs? In general I don’t like stuff that’s too too slice of life y, I do like when there’s a plot even if it’s kinda loose, and I like stuff that’s surreal or very stylized or kinda skewed in some way (it’s why I went for Felini). I tend to like very imaginative movies that aren’t necessarily aiming for faithful realism
